Yes, if the current channel is filled up with a lot of hot spots (or what ever you call different wlan signals) then it's best to switch to a channel that has the least signals or even none. I.e. if you have a channel for yourself you'll have the best signal. If you share a channel with other signals it is most likely detrimental.

Well I bought it just for this purpose, as I said in the video I want to extend the signal through the concrete foundation into the basement. It does work, but just know it will still probably lose 90% of signal strength. So if you have a weak receiver (like a phone) it will be rather slow. It's still wayyy better than no signal at all so I'll take it any day. But I think you'd need a second antenna for a strong signal.
