I know a lot of collectors have a problem with bootleg figures, saying they are anti hobby and collector. Now I both agree and disagree with this statement. I think buying and supporting a bootleg figure after you as a consumer have already supported the original release, is okay. Or, as a consumer, you are willing to support the original release, but the supplier has made it unavailable/out of budget and thus you turn to second hand or bootleg versions, thought the intent is still there. On the other hand, waiting for a figure to be bootleged and then buying it without even considering supporting the original is a bit of a hit to the collector and hobby mindset. With that being said, I honestly think I'm going to purchase this figure. I own 2 legit Bandai SHMA Mechagodzilla 2021 figures, one I've customised and one that's MIB that I accidentally forgot to cancel the pre-order for. I think I'll have fun with this bootleg, I have a few customs in mind. And given its all plastic, I don't really have to worry about weight, and I can really push the articulation further. I may even add articulation, who knows.

I have the same situation with having 2 Gamera 1995 figures as I forgot to cancel a pre-order too and one's still MIB like yours. no regret though, it's not like it's going to loose resale value any time soon.. I mostly agree, though my views on buying bootlegs actually lean far more liberatarian than even that. Having reviewed a lot of these figures I've taken time to really think about this, but that said, like you imply, I don't think either of us should feel any guilt or need to dwell further about it as we've both clearly sunk hundreds, no, easily thousands! of dollars into these figures and supporting these lines ... Now granted I have some bias in this opinion. To sum up, while it is a grey aria, I think the onus on who's guilty in this scenario aren't the people buying the bootlegs, but rather almost entirely the people manufacturing and selling them, I think trying to villainize people for buying boolegs is pretty redundant. For starters I think it's people's own business what they spend their money on... they have no obligation to support these brands or to buy and/or not buy and specific product. A lot of the time those buying these bootlegs aren't serious collectors either, they're just casual fans who want a cool toy, if a $50 bootleg satisfies them just enough that they don't have to spend $200 + on a MonsterArts than more power to them... Money is hard to come by and figure collecting is a luxury so I don't think lesser of anyone who chooses cheaper copy. I get the counter argument for this, but think most of the time, bootlegs do not replace the original, when you buy a real SHMA figure, you're buying it for the quality, the brand, the re-sale value and the collectibility ect.. I haven't seen a single one of these bootlegs being able to match that. I'd further counter the statement that bootlegs are anti hobby and collector, as I keep mentioning, a great benefit of boolegs is that they're the prefect base for customs as you don't have to destroy and/or modify the official figures. People forget that boolegs and 3rd party figures can be collectibles in their own right too, they're still part of the overall variety of collectibles and history of Godzilla for example or whatever fandom the bootleg is of ... And then we come to the people making and selling these figures. these people are the one who literally actively stole, replicated and are profiting from some one else's work. I get the argument that by buying these figures your're supporting them and that's not great... but I still just feel that the people buying these things aren't the ones's who should be held responsible for policing that. they're just exercising their freedom to spend their own money on what they want, on what is made accessible to them and in the grand scheme of things do little to no harm and have no malicious intent.

@@DaikaijuDU Personally I take issue with Monsterarts current business model, and I would say it is anti-hobby and anti collector. Charging 100+ USD for figures that tend to have QC issues and lacking in accessories, no re-issues (no the special colors are not re-issues strictly speaking; even X-Plus does this from time to time or has alternatives for anniversaries). The bootleg niche has only appeared in response to these various issues. Even the MV Godzilla bootlegs come with beam effects, its just pitiful.

that honestly depends... if you have the original already than I'd say no unless you specifically want a second one for some reason, modding ect... but if you don't have an SHMA MechaGodzilla 2021 in your collection and want one, but don't mind some potential QC issues, than go for it !

I got the bootleg to compare it to the original, and I'm not a fan of the bootleg. The soft plastic really hurts the figure. If you can't afford the SHMA then I'd suggest waiting for the Hiya.

Fair enough! Personally I'd rank this figure in the same mid-range place as I would a hypothetical NECA version, it's too much of a drop in quality to really work as a replacement for the original SHMA figure, but for what it is, especially considering the price, it's a step up from all the other 2021 MechaG figures in and under it's price range. I do hope Hiya's figures end up being as good as they seem to be... we may not even get a MechaGodzilla, who knows...

maybe a very tiny bit... I can't get the bootleg to stand exactly as strait as the official one as the ankle joint is a bit weaker on the bootleg so it dose stand a little bit more lower, but it's hard to say if the actual sculpt of the figure is any smaller overall. thanks for checking out the video !

@@atomicvinylreviews3420 it was a typo lol It was supposed to be the good figure. I modified my Playmates 6 inch figure with all kinds of new joints and a red glowing paint job, and it’s pretty great for what it is, but the detail is lacking and it’s not as accurate to the movie model

The figure is acceptable but man I need buy it from China , I think it's better to wait for Hiya Toys version of Mechagodzilla before buying this bootleg, anyway good unboxing!

fair enough... I actually prefer ordering figures from China than ordering figures like the Hiya Toys version which you can seemingly only order from Big Bad Toy Store, which to someone like me who lives in Australia has really expensive shipping costs... buying direct from China is so much cheaper... ironically Hiya Toys is a Chinese brand, but they're not selling internationally outside of China anywhere else as far as I can tell. I do hope Hiya's figures end up being as good as they seem to be... and bear in mind we may not even get a MechaGodzilla from them, who knows... thanks for checking out the video and commenting by the way!
