Fun fact that might clear up a bit of confusion: The word "toad" is actually just the proper term for any frog species that naturally has dry, leathery skin. So while the terms aren't really interchangeable, calling a toad a frog IS accurate.

I feel like the Punk Frogs were a preemptive measure against people copying TMNT by having toad/frog characters. It didn't prevent it, but it did make them look like even bigger copycats than they otherwise might have.

I had one of these when I was slightly younger. I always found it humorous because I could let it go all over the house and scare the heck out of my cats. Dan Smith this was a year ago but whatever. Yep! Toads are frogs that, essentially, usually stray farther from water for longer, are usually more sturdy and stocky, and usually have rougher skin. The skin has many reasons, one being camouflage, and another water retention. Note I said usually for all of that. These are the norm, not the rule. There are fully aquatic toads and frog frogs that abandon the water. We just like to distinguish between the nice sleek looking froggos and the rougher tougher looking frogs by calling them toads. Poor toads.

That Ninja Hero Rider horse, I'm willing to bet is from some other toy line too and they just combined it in with the toads/frogs/whatever they are. I'll bet they have some cowboy line or girls toy horse line (judging from the brush-able mane this is probably the case) where you'll find these horses. I'll bet the horse are pink or purple and may have princess figures that ride them.

Yep. The cartoon style of the figure does NOT match the style of the horse. This company is simply mixing and matching different cheap, crap toys in their toy line basically. Next, they'll take one of their race cars from their race car set and combine it with the toads and release it as "Super Fighting Race Frogs!" or they'll take their girls beauty shop set, re-color it and re-release it as "The Frog Base".

+BlackburnBigdragon I wouldn't call mixing parts from multiple toy lines a bad thing, if a product is well made you could make something creative with already existing molds. The horse on the other hand is obviously just a cheap ripoff from a Barbie line. Still though I wouldn't mind having the Riding amphibian samurai heroes in my bootleg toy collection... If I had one to begin with.

I had one I bought at a yard sale with that same face shape (albeit not green). She walked via battery with all her legs, though. The leg mechanism on this one's different.
