Hot take but I actually love "Compton" front to back from the motion picture like intro to the first song "talk about it" to the last song "in my diary" Compton hitting. It's just a completely different sound of the times it came at and to me that felt soooo refreshing. IDC what anyone says that album slaps. I mean "Gone" "All on me" "All in a days work" "animals" deep water" "issues" "medicine man" y'all are sleep. Mark my word. It will be praised in retrospect. It's not what everyone was used to from dre but it actually had the audacity to be a different sound. And it was coherent. It's very dope and I'm about to revisit it tomorrow while I'm at work. Give it a another listen. I'm 37 and heard Dre in his prime. And I appreciate and enjoy the Compton album a little more than Chronic and 2021 and I loved 2021. But Compton was a different beast altogether. I love it.

I like this segment. Sounds like Dj Hed and Bootleg Kev need to start putting together a compilation of the old and the new. Lets get MyGuyMars profucing a track for Blxst, WC and Dj Quik, or Battlecat producing a track for Ty Dolla Sign, Dom Kennedy and Big Hit or somebody like that. A G Perico 5-song EP over Dj Pooh or Daz & Soopafly beats would knock! I know these older producers, especially, have heat just sitting in hard drives right now. And, oh yeah. That Compton album had no replay value outside a few songs. That Houdini single b/ Eminem is unliteanable, unless youre a hardcore Stan, who's just going to lap up any and everything Em throws out there.

Em puts out some pretty solid music from time to time but he also puts out some kind of "meh" stuff that millions of his die-hard fans buy and convince themselves they love. For example, he put out a double album greatest hits of all the music he put out since like 2008 and like three quarters of that music just doesn't vibe at all. Stan is a fucking classic. Lose Yourself is a fucking classic. Last fifteen years, instead of making music, he's experimenting with accents and seeing how much he can flip words on a record. ]
