I plant trees in these exact boots. Activities include lifting $100 + lb potted trees, digging holes, and immeasurable amounts of time on foot. For the grand total of $200 US, they'll make you a leather midsole version.

As a Land Surveyor in Central Illinois, my most important tool for the job is the boots that I wear. Jim Green is a game-changer. I used to be a die-hard 20-year-plus Red Wing guy. Now I am Jim Green for life? 💪🐸

I just got a pair with the wedge sole. I added a foam insole. I did not take the insole supplied by JG out but rather added the foam insole above it. Fitting was loose but with the extra insole fits good and surprisingly comfortable immediately, obviously the added foam insole is helping with that immediate comfort

There are western boots made for working they are called ropers or stockmans they have a lower heel then a riding boot and a lot of them have square toes.

I absolutely love my Jim Greens, the utilitarian (ugly😂) style has actually grown on me and even though I have worn mine into the ground at work I find myself browsing the site for a casual boot often. Btw I would love to see a review of the shoelies when they start shipping

Chelsea’s can be work boots but it depends on the sole’s they have. In this case yes Jim green’s Chelsea boots are indeed WORK BOOTS 👍 Lots of Chelsea boots are for fashion and don’t have the ruggedness, durability or protection of a work boot

I’ve learned for a little more, you can have your boots customized at Jim Green to include a leather last board and leather midsole. I’m thinking about that to help with the comfort. You can create a variety of assembles with the components they have there, in-house. Thanks, for the great video. Take care!

I really want to get a custom pair of these in black with comp toe for work I just wish they’d have a way to see them as you build them so I could see what each sole looks like on them that’s my biggest problem is I don’t know which sole I want on them

I enjoyed this video. You did a good, clear breakdown of the JG Chelsea. I have several pairs of JG's: Razorbacks, African Rangers and yeah they are pretty hard underfoot. Also, I have a high arch and that tends to push the top of my toe against the toe box which is annoying. I'd love to go the Jim Green factory in Pietermaritzburg and do a tour and get a custom made pair or two. Once again, good job.

Along with a guy in southwest Florida. That wears a pair of Keen Romeo aluminum toe boots. That have been the best boots ive had so far. That i resoled myself with vibram lug sole. I like the boots alot. I wear my boots everyday all day long. The only time i haven't wore them is if they are to wet or going some where that work boots won't work. I own and operate a landscaping and tree business. So my boots have been well worn compared to most. Im just looking for a upgrade from $150 pair of boots. Nicks i really want just can't afford at the moment.

@@coltrv I have a pair of the Stockman boots in fudge leather. I’m about 4 weeks in. They are significantly wider, more rigid underfoot and had a legit break-in period for me as the thick leather had to soften. The Stockman are real boots, making the Blundstones feel like sneakers. I wear blunnies now for when my feet need a break, but the Stockmans are my everyday boot. They look better to my eye, feel more rugged and capable and I know they will last much longer. I love them both, but for very different reasons and situations.

I'm a residential HVAC tech. In my line of work I'm constantly going in and out of people's homes. For a long time I used a 8" moc toe because the wedge sole is none marking but occasionally customers would say no to shoes or boots in the home entirely. You can imagine the pain of having to constantly retie your boots a hundred times. Everyone at my shop uses Romeo's or Chelsea style boots. These are definitely work boots. On a different note it's amazing to see how many people in the skilled trades such as carpenters plumbers HVAC etc.. use regular tennis shoes for really rough work. I just bought a pair and am very excited. How are the sizing? I know you mentioned they are true to size. I wear a 13 in tennis shoes but that size was unavailable so I got a 12.5. Do you think that will fit okay? based on your experience with the stockman

I recently bought a pair of these boots in the Fudge color with the honey colored sole. Very happy with them! In total agreement with your review. I've got a wide foot, they fit great, I find them to be very comfortable, and for the price, amazing value! I wonder if you've tried the honey color sole? They may be a bit softer underfoot than the black sole? Subscribed. :)

Yea the more I watch reviews of the Stockman, the more I’m not going to get them. I hear a lot of reviewers say they aren’t comfortable but comfortable for a work boot. I have a pair of Redwing 606 made in the USA work boot. It’s not heritage but a real work boot. For a work boot they are comfortable like wearing sneakers and the leather is tough work boot is leather. I’m just looking for Chelsea because I like the idea of just slipping them on.

Hello gratis video, I tried 9,9½,10. 9 feels too snug especially for the toe area, feeling pressure from the top. 9½ feelt ok with a slighter thicker sock no way. 10 definately too big. Also I feel that the heel is to loose. Did the leather loosen up in your case? Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think stitchdown construction should be called veldtschoen. Veldtschoen construction is when one layer of upper is flat-welted and then the second upper layer is wiped down onto that welt and stitched down. So it's like one upper layer is goodyear welt construction and then the other layer is stitchdown construction onto the flat welt. Veldtschoen construction can even have a full liner and double uppers, so three layers of upper.
