I agree Andy 100%. This Omen remake was unnecessary and basically a clone of the original with a different cast. I don't blame the actors for why this remake sucks. They wanted a paycheck. I find your review more entertaining than watching the actual movie. I give the Omen remake 1.5 stars and that's being generous. Good job Andy.

I would say that the kid they chose for the 2006 version was either a poor choice; or at the very least his make-up was a poor choice. The one thing that always struck me about the boy between the original and the remake is that in the original film, the boy is hinted at being a supernatural evil, but he looks normal enough that it could almost come across as just a psychological fear, that maybe they're mistaken, that it's just all in their heads. Whereas the boy in the remake is so obviously, clearly, totally evil that there shouldn't be any question in killing him at all. He LOOKS evil, evil things happen AROUND him, he's clearly son of Satan. Murder him, do it now!

One of my issues with the film is that they tried too hard to make Damien creepy. In the original, he had an almost cherub-like appearance and seemed almost normal, though still radiated a sense of dread. In the remake, however, he has dark hair, sunken-in eyes and always has on a perpetual unnerving stare. The muted color palette doesn't help either.

+Rockmusicforever90 -- I can't really remember the exact quote since I read it years ago. So I might not have it perfectly. But they named it The Thing because it was kind of their way of paying homage to the 1982's The Thing. They didn't want to add prequel to the title or change it. I've see it. To me, it's not that bad and I enjoyed it, but it's not that great at the same time. It's one of those movies you don't have to see it cause it doesn't provide many answers, other than why the thing dog ran away from the base.

The Omen remake sucked largely because the way they filmed it they made everything happen as if it was truly intentional. While in the original it made it seem more like a force of nature that he was doing it subconsciously level.
