I'm pretty sure you can dry a wet gun by having it near the fire and if there's gunpowder in the gun the fire would ignite it shooting the round if there's a round in it

I have 2 theories: 1. You may be able to cook the cucumber and that may make it free of Poison 2. You may be able to shoot flying birds like seagulls and the jungle birds

Cooking the "cucumber" would be pretty smart thing to do in a survival situation (you shouldn`t eat raw things that you do not know, right? ;))

Where you built the barricade of fire, just to the right if your facing the ocean, is a stone archway that I use for cover. Build a fire on both sides and sit under the archway and the bats can’t reach you. I just sit there eating crabs and coconuts.

Theory: Can you create an explosion by pouring or throwing gunpowder into fire? Maybe even open up those cave entrances or kill an animal with it?

The powder makes a little flash when you pour it on the fire but I don’t think you can make explosives with it

Ok, so pouring gunpowder into a fire just causes it to flare up a bit, and it despawns too fast to make a fuse

The building system would take soooooo much work given how detailed all the other elements are. That said, if this game makes some cash a building system would be AMAAAAAAZING.

The pistol shot holder can be refilled with loose balls as it's typically only partially full when you retrieve it from a chest. There is also loose shot in the chest so be sure to top your ammo box off

Thoughts from many survival games to try (especially Monkey Island) 1. Can you have a log/stick with just one tip of the fire and grab it out of the fire and have the tip still burning to swing at beasts. 2. With the knife an you cut banana leaves or something similar to gain a new resource? 3. Can you us the knife to cut cloth like the flag making a rag which you would use to wrap on a stick to Craft a torch 4. Can the knife cut vines to create rope? 5. Can you carve wood with the knife or a stone to make a primitive hammer (aka rock on a stick) 6. Can you use a gem to focus the sun to start a fire?

If the pistol gets wet, you can dry it quickly by the fire. BUT BE WARNED: if it's filled with gun-powder, it'll ignite and fire!

If I remember right, a lot of flintlocks made in this time period would have a brass (or some other metal) bowl set into the hilt for if someone ran out of ammo. They would grip the barrel and use the handle end as a club. Is it the same for the pistol/multitool in Bootstrap Island? (Unrelated, I absolutely love your videos. Your gameplay vids got me to try VR with the Meta Quest 2 back when you recorded Saints and Sinners, so thank you so much for your content!)

Im pretty sure the guns dont actually explode, but they fly backwards. So theoretically you could do it again. I wonder if you could pit in too much gunpowder and open a coconut by it flying back and hitting one

1) You can safely eat the poison cucumber after cooking. 2) Cooking the coconut halves before eating adds more to the health meter.

Eat gunpowder. On a more serious note, try getting saltwater with a bottle and seeing what you can do with that. And maybe you can put other stuff in the bottle? Maybe you can break the bottle and use it as a weapon? This ones really more of an idea than a theory, it would be cool if you could put different items in the gun holster, like the bottle in place of gunpowder, the knife or torch in the place of the gun, and I don’t know about the bullet slot.

I have a few questions. 1 Are objects you drop in a location persistant or dissolve after a certain time/distance away? 2 Could you use one of the circular caves as a base location with wood/tinder/coconut stashed and a fire built ready? 3 Can you throw a third object and walk along throwing it to use later as, a way to have 3 objects?

When the bats come out you can sometimes hear a clicking sound like from the smoke monster from lost and the roar at the end of the night sounds like the roar from the smoke monster

I have a couple theories: 1) can you dry wet items using the fire? 2) can you shoot a seagull? 3) If you set up a campfire around a tree or one of the big logs will they burn? 4) can you put sea water in a bottle and then purify if with fire? 5) Can you cook the “cucumber” and if you can will it still poison you?

I’m definitely curious about three things in particular.. 1) Does the bottle breaks if you throw it against something hard? (Or could the gun explode it?) 2) When you want to bring something with you but you need two hands for a rope, is it possible to throw the items to the ledge? 3) Can the knife serve as a weapon during the night?

What happens when you throw a gunpowder flask into a fire? Can you mayhaps create a bomb with it and spread fire all over the place? Maybe a last ditch effort to keep the fire going throughout the night and to shoo the beasts away? Just a thought.

I've had a small theory for a while about the game. I've thought that because of the shipwreck we were in, would it be possible that our character got brain damage and possibly has gone insane? The narrator voice acts as your conscience or your thoughts but from the breathing and trailer voices of our player character it's safe to say the narrator voice ISNT our character. That's why I've thought the narrators voice could possibly be the captain of the ship we were in, especially because of the one idle line he has where he acts as more of a different character with you than a conscience. That being the line where he tells a story about a Chinese captain: (Can be heard at 12:43) "A Chinese sailor once told me, that in moments of danger, the only way to move is forward." So, in my opinion it'd be safe to say the voice of the narrator was someone our player character used to know. Edit: Another small theory I had is maybe the possibility of reincarnation being canon. Not only is the progression system in the game designed for you to die and gain new items to keep on going, but the game also itself being advertised as a rogue-like. Watching the Early Access launch trailer, I noticed how after every death the character has, he keeps saying the same line over and over, with each time him sounding more confident and surer of himself, as if he realizes he's already said it before. This could also tie into some kind of dream/coma theory, with the shipwreck putting him into a deep sleep, also considering how all the foods and animals are pretty fantasy it could just be our characters interpretation of what being stranded on an island could be inside his head. With the dream also consisting of the narrator/captain's voice, but it being all a dream or inside the characters head is a pretty old and stale trope but could be very possible and interesting if the devs pull it off well.

The gun doesn't explode. It just gets launched backwards/behind you from the recoil. I reckon you could have found it if you tried looking for it behind you. Or at least I think so, I know it happened to someone else. The best way to test would be with water behind you so that you see the splash. So I guess that's another thing for you to test.

You can have 5 loaded pistols, one in sheets two in hands and two trowing in direction of moving.Now you can kill all animals at night 😂

The pistol doesn't explode it just flies far away, you can still retrieve it. The pistol can also be dried out at a fire but watch out that it isn't loaded with gunpowder and shot as the fire will make it go off

thanks for checking the theories! you should see what meat you get from each animal.. the bats and dogs too. ;-) and 100% agree that the devs should add a some kind of inventory. the knife could easily live in your boot. the bottle on a rope sling across the shoulder. and.. if you et a sack.. maybe carry things like a torch, meat, etc...

Not a crazy idea but I think you could try to make a fire inside a chest. Also there’s stuff like sponges in the water, I’m curious if it would be possible to get it, with the knife maybe ? Lastly I wonder if you could cook animals like dogs in the boiling water rocks.

1: See if you can use the pistol as a club with the butt of the gun. 2: See if you can cut yourself with the knife. 3: See if you can stab the monsters with the knife. 4: See if you can cut the vines with the knife and if you can use it for something. 5: See if you can put the kindling on a medium sized stick, not the thinnest stick, to make a torch. 6: See if it's possible to break the flask and use it as a cutting tool.

Odd that all the animals are nocturnal. I hope they add some regular day time birds and monkeys and stuff. Not that the day time stuff would necessarily attack you. It'd be cool if you could sharpen sticks for spearing too.

The thing about boiling salt water in real life anyway is that you’d boil the water out and be left with salt, not the other way around. You’d have to put a tarp or something over the steam that the water collects in and drips over onto something
