I met Bootsy after a show last summer in Chicago. I went to shake his hand, but instead, he bear hugged me, and kissed my bald friend on the forehead. He is such a genuinely nice and happy person, and it was insane to meet a legend.

"And Lo! I cried out as the heavens parted and down upon a great rippling incandescent pillar of splendor, descended the star child, to touch the minds and dwell within the souls of every funky funkateer. The notes rushed forth to bathe my consciousness in the musical light as an earnest supplication for more and more of the sacred funk, came from between my cracked and parched lips. It is the funkateers prayer that only the purest funk, channeled from the fount of funk, would flow forth for us the faithful, who dwell in the desolate desert landscape of manufactured pop and empty soulless sounds, might be given a chance to slake their thirst upon its living giving waters." Great Bootsy, we implore you, never diverge from your holy calling, for you are our high priest of funk and never stop calling down the pure deep precious funk from the holy realms to those of us deserving of it's essence. Amen!"

Yes my favorite bass players are hard rock artists such as Les Claypool and Billy Sheehan, I also know that there wouldn't be a Les Claypool or Billy Sheehan without the existence of Bootsy Collins!! Bootsy used different pedals. Distortion (called fuzz back in the day), echo and envelope filtering in the form of a Musitronics Mu-Tron III auto wah. He probably used other pedals too, like maybe a volume pedal or maybe some kind of phase shifter or Tremolo pedal. I'm not sure what he did with his amps back in the day, but more recently he runs four different pedals through four different amp sets with a specific setting on each one, to clean up each effects signal separately.

For the love of all things holy and funky.... Why in hell would you thumbs down thins video!
@Infinityhorus018 жыл бұрын
Pretty easy, all you see is this video is an overdressed clown making weird noises on a rediculously shaped bass. I consider myself very openminded when it comes to music. I listen to Metal, Blues, Soul, Raggae, Rap, Classic, Jazz whatever hits a nerve in me. But this effect overloaded bass fideling i cant find an access to. Sounds like a monkey playing a bass thats plugged into a flanger thats plugged into a reverb thats plugged into a delay thats plugged into an octaver thats plugged into 10 differend amps, each put into a mixer for after effects.
@timkandel68448 жыл бұрын
even if you dont understand the sound, why would you thumb it down ? I mean its just you not understanding the vibe, not the content being bad. I cant understand how you can thumb down something on youtube, thats like shitting on people's work.
@Infinityhorus018 жыл бұрын
Whats the problem with disliking something? It actually helps the video in the way youtube works. So by watching a video and disliking it you basically say you did not enjoy it personally but you see its a piece of art and you want to support it. People often have a hard time understanding the like/dislike system. Audio, video, the content or the message of a video, youtube has no mechanic that lets you say what exactly you liked/disliked about a video.
