Tara Herren merideth had a hard neglected child hood from both her mother and father , when Derek chose Addison over her it broke her heart because once again a man she loved left her for someone else, she’s has grace beauty and is trying to hold it togather the best she can. Mark showing up when he did made Derek realize that it was merideth he was in love with , yes it took both parties to break the marriage and Derek admired that he was emotionally absent in his marriage to Addison but Addison was a clingy woman because her father she believed for years cheated on her mother so she was looking for a man that she could trust and Derek never cheated on her not even at the prom if you remember it didn’t take Addison long to meet up with Mark that says she had always been in touch with him even as she was supposed to be working it out with Derek , she played a part in the break up as much as Derek did they both were wrong , he was never really in love with Addison , he loved her and they had a strong friendship with all their college friends I think they married because they both thought that’s the next step after graduation for her yes she loved Derek but it was about appearances and looking good togather two Drs working and being out in public but she was shallow and clingy wanting constant attention from him or any man that affirmed who she was and what she wanted , they had different goals as the relationship progressed, that’s only my take on things
