Great video. I feel a more suitable replacement for the iPad would be the Boox Tab ultra c, note air 3c or note air or the tab mini c for an iPad mini. The c implies they have color. This has the advantage of having some limited color. The downside to the tablets mentioned is the box super refresh technology which drains the battery faster. I haber my tab ultra every 2 days or so. But the advantage is the refresh rate. I even see KZbin on it. Although not the best experience but it helps with my eye strain. The other thing to note is that the writing feel is slightly different on these. The tab series is less paper like and I believe the note air 3c should be closer to the one you have. All these tables have a backlight. Hope this helps. I’ve been using my tab ultra c since release and I use it more than my iPad which I mostly use when editing photos.

I do use Logos, and I did notice it works well. However, the lack of formatting options really irks me and I don't like using it. I can't create the calming page that I like. I have actually ended up loading two Bibles as ePubs into Neo Reader and find that very easy and quick to access.

I'm enjoying it so much. There are minor things that I don't like, but I'm actually using it much more than I even expected I would. I've hopefully got an upcoming mini review on the case as well as a review of the typing experience, but I can't find the minutes to sit down and finish it. :o)

As a productivity nerd that is ironically skeptical of buying an e-ink tablet (with no backlight), your commitment to be willing to leave the ipad gives me more confidence that the Boox Go 10.3 might just have the right balance of things you can and can't do with it. Moreover, I always wondered in what use case would a backlight be necessary besides bed time?

Obviously your individual use case is what matters, but for me it was recognizing there was a big difference between what I _could_ do on the iPad and what I needed to do on the iPad. I get so tired of the time I waste on there and doing anything I really _need_ to do (outside of why I have the iPad) is often easier and quicker on my phone or laptop.

@@BK2UA Wow, this was perfectly said, the Boox 10.3 may be lacking what one may need to do on an iPad but at least it cuts off what one can do on an iPad, making it a productivity machine!

I was dubious about this device because of all the latency talk. The visibile lag in your writing test convinced me that all the talk is true. Go 10.3 is a No Go for me.

I know the numbers don't lie and that the Go 10.3 is not as fast as some other e-ink tablets, but it hasn't distracted me one bit (and usually I am distracted by these kind of details).

I have been journaling in it daily and note taking and I don't notice the latency at all. So, in my opinion, "slower" than others doesn't equal slow. But, the data are the data...

I don’t understand the latency issue. If you need to read books and take notes then this doesn’t matter. If you want to watch videos and browse the internet then this isn’t the device for that

I have the iPad and macbook and iPhone. Was contemplating if I really need Go 10.3 for note taking vs supernote . Watching this I am thinking if I really need to have Go 10.3 so afraid i fall back to my iPad ( the battery sucks ).

I'm nearly six months in and still love it despite its shortcomings. My heart is with Supernote, but my use case requires Boox for now. I am satisfied and only miss my iPad when I miss the ways I wasted time with it.

I bought the Boox Go 10.3 and kept it for a few days until I learned and realized that I could NOT transfer my files onto a USB-C thumb drive. Even thought the drive was recognized, there was no way to transfer the data. That was a deal-breaker, so I returned it.

Oh that's disappointing. That's not something I need to do, but I will say that using the BooksDrop app to get files from my computer to the device works incredibly fast.

No I haven't. I would love the Supernote. Their company ethos and what is regarded as a superior note-taking experience is what I'd like to support. However, because you can't download whatever Android apps you want, it's not an option for me. I would love to try it though, especially the upcoming A5X II.

@@BK2UA actually you can sideload apps there. As I understand, they have the best paper feel experience, and ceramic nibs. I'm thinking to buy nomad, or wait for the bigger screen

This is the only e-ink tablet I've used personally. The Note Air 3C looks great, and it has been the general all-around recommendation for people looking to get into e-ink tablets. I don't love the darker color screens, but it all depends on what you want to do with it. Kit Betts-Masters recently had a good rundown of comparing the Boox lineup that I think you might like if you haven't already seen it.

Thank you for the review. I noticed that you have Everand app installed. Can you tell us about the app's experience on this device because I heard some users say that you cannot log in your Everand account?

I've had no issue logging into the Everand app, but because the app is so animation heavy, you do have to mess with settings to not be distracting and that does feel slow after that. But the whole thing works fine. I should do a short video trying to show some of that.

Export your Google doc to a pdf and then use the box pdf reader app. Won’t do that lag

@ I am so impressed with the 10.3. I love that I can get my email and my Google Docs and do small little things that I might want to do, but I don’t have to carry my laptop or iPad. I looked at the remarkable but the lack of having those extra things means I have to carry an extra device.I think I made a great choice and I love using it.

One thing you might try to improve your web reading would be to go into the eink screen and set the DPI larger. In fact there are several things you can do in eink mode to make the experience better. I don't know about the Google Docs problem but is there a way to switch to page turn and not scroll? If so I think that would provide you with a better experience with your notes. There's no way to switch to page turn for Google Docs (I've long wanted that function for iOS). The larger DPI isn't really the issue because normal sites look fine. But I do love my Reader Modes and I wish there was something more customizable for e-ink screens. I did discover the "E-Ink Bro" browser and it has some very useful functions, however I do like the built-in ad blocking for Brave that I've enjoyed so much. Thank you for your wishes!

I just bought it right now and it's a huge mistake. there is no brightness adjustment and I can't read my books. it's too dark. don't get close to it. what a waste of money

You're right: this is definitely not the device you want if you need a front light.

Did you do two seconds of research before buying it? Everyone knows it doesn't have a light. It's perfectly fine without a light unless you're reading in the dark.
