Buenos dias/ Good Morning!
Good morning!
This video that I share is very special. Produced with everything and music by my great-uncles Raymond Román and Ruperta (Rupe) Ruiz Ramírez. Rupe is sister of my great-grandfather Jose V. Ruiz (aka Papa Che)...my bisabuelo.
I had the privilege of meeting and sharing with them.
My last conversation with Tio Raymond was at the age of 12 ... He wonder if there was a branch that interested me in art. I said No ... not knowing shortly I get a camera and I would fall in love with the visual arts like him.
The video covers a period from 1967 to 1970. In Christmas time of those years. When they came to spend Christmas with us ... The Family.
Mainly they visit the family in Boquerón, also visit the family around the island.
For those who do not know, the video was taken with an 8mm camera, and Tio Raymond edited it with music. He successfully overcome the technical limitations of the media.
In this video are the grandparents and parents of Dave, Benjamin, and many others.
A Boquerón ... a Puerto Rico very different from today.
Perhaps with an illusion and optimism that we lost today.
This video explains why I write half in English and half in Spanish. Because most of the ancestors of these wonderful people are fluent in English...their first language.
To my family: Los Ruiz Ortiz Cofresì Hernández Ramírez Román Seda...
In honor and loving memory of all.
Love never dies.
Boquerón and Cabo Rojo (1967 thru 1970) Family Román Ruiz Ortiz Cofresi. This video produced by Raymond Román and Ruperta Ruiz Ramirez. (Raymond and Rupe). They return from New York every christmas (like thousands of puerto ricans) to visit the family.
I made this video document to all the family. The Román, Ruiz, Ortiz, Cofresi and many others.
Thanks to Joe (Tito) Román for sharing this wonderful piece of our history.
