I'm a digital nomad and could spend about a week in Bora Bora for about $1,000 including accommodation, transport and food. Definitely good advice to stay on the main island with Airbnb. Mine had a Tahitian bicycle for free so I could go everywhere on the island. No need to rent car. And can use "roulottes"/food truck for food, usually less than $10 👍 This will also help local economy and be more authentic versus international resorts 😊

we haven’t stayed in airbnbs at Bora-Bora, but definitely you have so many beautiful options. It shouldn’t be advertised only as “super-uber - expensive” destination. But at the same time, we absolutely loved how quiet and not crowded it was. And there are no high-rise hotels or buildings. Have never seen such a clear starry night sky 🌌 in our lives 😍 let’s keep it this way.

We are going to the South Pacific in March 2026 on the small high end cruise ship Paul Gauguin . Our cruise is 14 days leaving Tahiti and going to Bora Bora (2 days) Moorea , Huahine, the Marquesas Islands, etc. it's a great way to see the islands. All our food is included and you don't get ripped off. I am paying $22,000 for two people for two weeks. We booked a balcony cabin but you can get a cheaper room on the ship, such as a porthole. The only thing you have to pay extra for would be excursions on the islands or go explore the islands yourself. Its a good deal!

It looks like a dump and dated. Also, I hate that the gov lets these scammers thrive. I'm never visiting.

rich Europeans visiting a poor country then nagging about paying money, typical!

Dear Adam, French Polynesia - is one of the most expensive travel destinations in the World. So is it “a poor country” really? The contrast between ultra-rich resorts bordering on the poor neighborhoods is surprising. There is a difference between reasonable prices and super ridiculous prices especially compared to how much locals pays for the same service / product (meaning such service CAN be provided at a normal reasonable price, but not for tourists). We never liked anyone taking advantage of us simply for being tourists. Would you personally be happy about everyone thinking you are just a stupid tourist / money 💰?
