Music by Anton Pann, vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a song by Anton Pann, one of the most renowned figures of Romanian music. Born in the 1800's, Pann was a folklorist and musicologist, as well as a talented musician and composer himself, and many of his songs were known for their often lewd humour and emphasis on pastoral scenes and themes, such as this one. My arrangement uses the țambal to provide the basic rythmic foundation of the song as do most modern Romanian folk songs, and a violin string section provides the main melody. I forwent the usage of more modern, Western based harmonic progressions to emphasise the largely monophonic and modal nature of music Pann belonged to as a Romanian of the 19th century. Lyrics in Romanian: Bordeiaș, bordei, bordei Bordeiaș, bordei, bordei Of, of, of, Cu mărtăceii de tei Sa-ncuibat dragostea-n ei Of, of, of, Bordeiaș fără gârlici Bordeiaș fără gârlici Of, of, of, Tu mă faci să viu p-aici Desculț și fără opinci Of, of, of, Bordeiaș întunecos Bordeiaș întunecos Of, of, of, Mult imi ești tu drăgăstos Când mă faci să vin pe jos Of, of, of, Întâi p-aici când veneam Întâi p-aici când veneam Of, of, of, Patru junci eu înjugam Și acum niciunul n-am Of, of, of, Apoi venii și cu cai Apoi venii și cu cai Of, of, of, Dacă beu îi și mâncai Numa-n cămașă plecai Of, of, of, Vai maica mea-n ce-ncăpui Vai maica mea-n ce-ncăpui Of, of, of, Că și căciula-mi băui Și de basmu mă făcui Of, of, of, English translation: Little hut, hut, hut, Little hut, hut, hut, Oh, oh, oh, oh, With small linden pillars Inside which love has found its nest, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Little hut without a porch, Little hut without a porch, Oh, oh, oh, oh, You make me come here Barefoot and without my peasant sandals on, Oh, oh, oh, oh. Dark little hut, Dark little hut, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, I love you so much That you make me walk on foot to come to you, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. In the beginning, when I came to you In the beginning, when I came to you Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. I would yoke four calves And now I don't even have a single one, Oh, oh, oh, oh. Then I also came with my horses, Then I also came with my horses Oh, oh, oh, oh, But if I drank and if late, I left wearing only my shirt, Oh, mother, what have I got myself into, Oh, mother, what have I got myself into, Oh, oh, oh, oh, I even gave my hat for a drink And so l made a fool out of myself, Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

My brother, most of our culture was shaped by the Turkish. What is unique is us always trying to look more “western” in hopes of blending in with the central and western cultures of Europe, while often loosely incorporating/ neglecting our Turkish influences. I studied a lot of Romanian art history and architecture and at least from this point of view, that’s our flavor of culture.

its nice to hear another romanian song sung by you :D will you sing a haiduc song? there are a lot, whith many versions. The two most famous are Iancu Jianu and Pintea, both having ballads about them. I know you made a nice haiduc song, to me theres no such thing as too much haiduc music haha, theyre beloved figures in the folklore and can make for great epic balkan music in your hands. Not all old authentic music has to come from Anton Pann's register, but if if you want one of his songs theres one called "sub poale de codru verde'' about a group of haiducs (implied) eating roast in the forest and calling out to the forest, asking it to hide them from the authorities because they didnt ruin it, just cutting a branch to hang the weapons. Its not epic, is more chill but i like the message, since for romanian culture the forest and the mountains are always a refuge, both in real history and in folklore, and i like a song that respects nature... You can also make a song about Starina Novac, an important hajduk for both serbians and romanians. It would be an actually cool idea since there are poems and ballads about him in both cultures. You could do a mix between romanian and serbian music. I know in serbia they have a type of one string rebab that they use to play epic ballads. I think this idea would be the one that gives you most creative freedom since you can choose from multiple stuff or compose your own melody based on the romaniaj and serbian poems. I hope you found it inspiring, as your channel is an inspiration to me. Now i have to study for my exams but when im done i decided to finally make a channel like you, and make music about what ive studied at university, since im a humanist (if i pass my final exams) but thats unrelated, i still dont have a cool youtuber name, thats the hardest thing to figure out

To understand the lyrics, you have to know more about the context and references. "Home little home, with little linden beams/pillars...love nestled in them. Home without an entrance, you make me come here barefoot and without shoes. Dark house, you are very dear to me, that you make me come on foot.When I first came here, I put a yoke on four bullocks and now I have none. Then I also came with horses, if I drank and ate, I left in just my shirt. Alas, my mother, what have I gotten myself into, because I also (sold my hat for a drink), and I made a laughing-stock of myself."

Hi there. Where is the video where you sang in romanian about "pigeon greek"?
@Hera6583 ай бұрын
ahahah I think you are talking about "Arză-l Focul Dascăl" but the "pigeon greek" isnt actually a proper translation. It's "Umblă să mă-nvețe Grecul păsărește" more like: The Greek is trying to fool me into letting him teach me "pasareste" - this one means in english "bird's language" but actualy is a little "secret language" romanian children are using thinking no one will understand them. The rule is simple you re adding the letter P (from Pasareste) after every syllable followed by the vowel in that syllable> therefore "hello" will became "hePe - loPo" = hePeloPo or "window"=winpodowpo. and that was kind of the pun intended

were were not the only latin speakers in the Balkans, were just the ones who keep doing it, along side the Aromanians, meglenoromanians and other vlachs. But Slavic is an important part of the Romanian language since before the 19th century more than 40% of the vocabulary was made of Slavic words. Now in contemporary Romanian there are like 20% but that might be the reason it might sound somehow Slavic. It's normal since we have Slavic neighbours :D I hope that satisfied your curiosity

@deathassassin327 ай бұрын
@@friendlyrobotasmr it is a longer subject, however it should have been latin in different forms , as it was spoken in the region south and north of the Danube for some time, even after the Aurelian retreat. However slavic was a major influence in the entire region once the Bulgar khanates (back then) migrated from the Volga region and grown into the Bulgarian kingdom and later Empire, until it was officially put into a definitive written alphabet by Cyrill and Methodius, which was later accepted by some orthodox people in the region as the official religious written language (slavonic), thus influencing the spoken language as well in the balkan region , adding to each regional country or dialect. It is what I remember from history classes so hope I got that right, plus it’s very summarised. The entire history of the region is an interesting read, from ancient times until modern ones.
