I am so excited about seeing John Waite again at the Steel Stacks Cafe on October 7th. This will be my 4th time and still he gets my heart. I will never forget when he invited my friend and I back to his hotel bar to have drinks with. He actually got on the phone and sang to my friend's mom to prove we were with him.

John is absolute perfection. I have loved him back in The Babys days. I've been blessed to see him several times and meet him. His music has gotten me through incredibly dark days and I was able to say "Thank you." He is a gift and is cherished. His entire band is fantastic.

Like the voices of John, Paul, George, and Ringo...John Waite was a voice through my teenage high school years with The Babys. Saw him and the band at the Oakland Auditorium. 79 or 80 I think. Keep going John. Keep making music.

Missing You came out the summer after my grandparents had been murdered so this song always took on a little bit of a different meaning to me. It took me another 33 years to figure out that my dad, still alive and still the lead suspect in that murder investigation, was the trigger man. And here we are.

I don't think that host is all that familiar with John's career. "And you worked with a couple of guys that went on to work in Journey....." Neal Schon formed Journey in 1973, Jonathan Cain joined John's band The Baby's in late 1978 then joined Journey in 1981. Bad English formed in 1987. By 1987 Journey was finished as a song writing band. Plus Modern English was never heard from again after 1982.
@guyo73516 жыл бұрын
Yikes, that's what I thought at that point. Up to there the interview was ok. The Modern English reference was odd. Yeah that "went on to be in Journey.." was awkward. Jonathan Cain went on to be in Journey..after the Babys. Bad English was 3 ex-Babys + Neal & Deen....but you knew that, ha.
@lobitome4 жыл бұрын
The interviewer embarrassed himself. I think it's a problem with a lot of people on radio or tv, they just don't do enough research, or have pop culture knowledge floating in their heads, like actual fans do.
@berthag3 жыл бұрын
I just heard that. I was like 'whoa!! this guy!' Went on to be in Journey?? Neal and Jonathan were Journey long before Bad English was even an idea. But oh well, it is a very long history for both John Waite and Journey, so maybe the interviewer did not have enough time to do some in depth research. I'll give him a pass.

Check out the video/duet he did with Alison Krauss - "I Ain't Missing You." It's killer !! Not what you would expect from Ms. Krauss - but she was HIS pick to do the song as a duet - which he'd thought it should be for 20 yrs.

Those four solo albums "Ignition", "No Brakes", "Mask of Smiles" & "Rovers Return" were so good but then so were those five Babys albums . They should've been bigger than just in my house , but fuck it some bands really don't get the breaks they deserve
