〇Explanation
Yurahime Shrine is a shrine located in Uragato, Nishinoshima Town, Oki District, Shimane Prefecture. Oki Province Ichinomiya Shrine.
It was founded a long time ago, and it is said that it was entrusted to a government shrine during the reign of Emperor Ninmyo (842). At the end of the Heian period, it was designated as the Ichinomiya of Oki Province, and was a shrine with a long history and high status. It declined from the Middle Ages to the middle of the Edo period. In 1773, the regular festival was revived by the village headmen of the 13 villages of Dozen.
It is said that the local people were so happy that it was Yurahime's miraculous experience that they built guard huts and many huts along the water's edge, and the entire family went out to catch squid. According to the legend of the island, a long time ago, when Suserihime no Mikoto was crossing the sea in a sweet potato bucket, a squid pulled her hand (sometimes bitten) while it was soaked in the sea. It is said that squid started to flock to the area.

〇説明 由良比女神社（ゆらひめじんじゃ）は、島根県隠岐郡西ノ島町浦郷にある神社です。隠岐國一之宮で、旧社格は郷社。 創建は古く、仁明天皇の時代(842年)官社に預かったと記されています。平安末期には隠岐國の一之宮と定められるなど由緒も古く社格も高い神社でした。中世から江戸時代中期までは衰微。安永2年（1773年）、島前13村の庄屋により例大祭が復興されました。 海上鳥居のある社前の由良の浜は、毎年10月から翌年2月にかけてイカが押し寄せ、「いか寄せの浜」とも呼ばれています。知夫村の伝承では、本来知夫村の烏賊浜にあった当社が由良に移ってからは、イカは由良に集まるようになったといわれています。 地元の者は由良比女様の霊験と言って喜び、水際に番小屋や多くの小屋を建て、家族総出で烏賊をとったといわれています。島前の伝承では、その昔、須勢理姫命が芋桶に乗って海を渡っているとき、海に浸した手をイカが引っ張った（噛み付いたともいう）お詫びとして毎年社前の浜にイカが押し寄せるようになったと言う。
