What is a SCAC Code, And How Do I Apply For One?

So If I am bringing over FBA items to ship to a warehouse in the USA, do I need a SCAC code and US DOT number as well? confused on this a bit. tks

Hi thanks for the question. In this case if you're bringing low-value ecommerce goods, you will need a SCAC if you're transporting the goods across the border. You will most likely need to process all of these shipments valued under $800 USD as a Section 321 De Minimus shipment and they will need to be filed on an ACE Manifest.

Thank you for that information@@BorderConnect . I have been reading up on it. Does the SCAC need to be set up personal name or as a business name? I would be driving the items across bringing them to a UPS to be shipped to the FBA AMZ warehouse. Tks

@@jmchampagne3955 I don't believe the SCAC can be registered to an individual. At the very least you may need to operate under a sole proprietorship. You can find these details at NMFTA.org Good luck!

Ok great, thank you for that info. I will be setting up a company for my FBA business, so that will work. I have read up alot on this process. I am not getting into the fba business until I get my corp, and then understanding this process. For form 7523, I know it covered 800-2500 USD. I know there is more involved with this. What is your charge to help with the 321 and then a 7523. My first couple of shipments will probably get help as I can find out the process. and then eventually doing it on my own. Can you advise? Once you have a SCAC you can get PAPS labels. Not PARS. For that you'd need a Highway Carrier Code. :)
