In GTA IV, I love Lil Jacob but I couldn't understand a fuckin word he ever said when I first met him. Even with subtitles, I could only guess what he meant with varying degrees of accuracy. And now with Krieg's DLC being going into his mind instead of a continuation of this relationship somehow, we will never get to see the full effect of this relationship. Heck they could have still done a Vaulthalla by Krieg or Maya having to chase the other down who went to or was kidnapped and brought to Valthalla. This is the last planned DLC after all, Krieg being my boy since his first reveal this hurts me soooo much, his redemption arc most likely being murdered to make what from trailer looks like a standard "ooohhh look at the crazy mad psycho" treatment..... I really hope not.

Fred Baggs he actually was supposed to be a major character in the main story of the game as far as unused audio files show. He seemed to be an undercover agent infiltrating the children of the vault to gather information. Later he would help taking down Maliwan and was supposed to be there at the end. And it might be the case Ava was introduced instead of Krieg and that they saved him for DLC4

I'm expecting the news of Maya's death to hit Krieg in one of three ways: He loses what little progress has been made and goes on one hell of a rampage across Pandora and probably has to be put down, he mourns Maya in the only way he can; through killing everything that even remotely resembles a bandit, or he just shuts down and either Tina or Ava has to console him. I'm banking on Tina, since she seems to get along with him very well, but I'm expecting Ava, since she was Maya's apprentice and has Maya's powers now. I hope Krieg gets some serious writing for this. Tina got an entire DLC exploring her coping process over Roland's passing, Krieg just lost one of the few anchors he had to sanity. This should absolutely not be glossed over.

This. Edit: Imagine going to through a DLC, where the story is to hunt down Krieg and either try to calm or kill him because of your option 1. Krieg functioning as the final boss of the DLC. Tbh here, why would "everything be sunshine and roses" on pandora? That'd be a rather tragic GoT like take on things and a punch to the guts for most of the players. Still an interesting choice and impactful storytelling if done right. All in all i doubt it tho, seeing how they "killed" Maya out of nowhere with no buildup of her or any storyarc. Or worse the sane and the psycho combine,meaning he can now think rationally but he'll still have his psychotic dangerous tendencies so he can now strategically plan and rationally think and speak while also being able to literally rip you in half and is nearly unstoppable. Or another cool idea is that the roles reverse, whild the psycho would be upset he is not exactly bright so he would probably move on but sane Krieg would probably go mad from pain guilt and rage taking control of the body and wanting revenge making him even more dangerous and it's up to Psycho to help him get under control.

I do see Krieg taking the news very badly, but I don't see him hurting Ava. She's someone Maya cared about, and a child to boot, so I think he'll firmly count her as an innocent even if her recklessness put Maya in the danger that got her killed. Instead, I see him running off and directing his buzz-axe and rage towards what's left of the *bad* people responsible for Maya's death: the Children of the Vault, Maliwan, etc... So, still refusing to kill the innocent, but now with both sides of Krieg united in wanting to violently kill bad people instead of Sane Krieg simply being resigned to it, and being all the more dangerous because they're working together instead of opposing each other. And if his other friends stage an intervention, I'd see it being more about saving him from himself and bringing him home than about saving anyone from him.

Krieg isn't practicing these lines for Maya. I've said this numerous times on other comments, but Krieg has always had a woman/girl he met before Maya that he wants to reunite with, but the last time they saw eachother the woman/girl freaked out at his new self and tried to murder him, hence he's trying to practice lines like "Don't be afraid". Those lines he's trying to get his other self to say and not for maya, and he's not doing it for Maya. *none* of it is for maya.

i literally *just* came to this conclusion; krieg and his sane alter ego is 90% similar to the characters Dog and God from Fallout: New Vegas' Dead Money DLC. and it was my favorite inter-character conflict of that DLC. you make Dog/God realize the other part of themselves they misunderstand is only a part of the whole Being that is that nightkin. i particularly love the water analogy that you can use to convince him to become one. and, like Dog/God going through their crucible caused by the courier, Krieg is going to go through his own crucible at the reveal of Maya's death and become better... or should i say, Deadlier. well, that, or he's going to fully go psycho.

The psycho is a subpersonality. A part of the mind that breaks of and tried to amnesify troubling memories. This is talked about by people like Zen Buddhists. If there's ever a Borderlands 4 and the story at least seems to follow these events...I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if Krieg is one of the primary antagonists. I was actually thinking similarly about Dog/God in Dead Money. In the same way that the Slab King turned out to be Brick, I could see some other warlord being Krieg. If they actually make the story branching, then maybe the PC decisions can dictate if he's a threat or not.
