Having worked with a guy that did curbing in the Oregon, I was very impressed with mixing operation. The the most I got out it was the ratios and troweling part. Your not spending too much time messing with finishing process two and done. With this a half day on a small to medium yard. Thank for the Info

I wish there was a better way of combining machines so that the mixing machine is attached to the curbing machine so that there would be not carrying the mud back and forth and the mud would flow directly to the curbing machine. This is just a thought though, but maybe some smart guy can come up with such an invention.

Thanks for the great tips. Do you know how much mixture it takes per ft. Or better question how do I calculate how much I will need for a small job I will do by hand with the 4x6 angle form that you sell

Hello, thank you for the videos.. I moved to Florida and was going to make landscape curbing. They don’t sell regular Portland like up north. They have Portland Limestone type IL.. I was told not to add any sand . Is that accurate? Thank you
@borders06 Жыл бұрын
Hi ,thanks for the question. Type L is the new Portland that is eco friendly, it will be the only thing u find in the coming yrs, we hardly notice a difference with it but yes u def need to add the sand like normal, it’s cement not concrete, u need the aggregate

Hey I’m having trouble wit my curbs. There seem like they are staying sandy for weeks and trimming grass around them takes chuncks out of it I do 4-1 and do the snowball test. Any help I appreciate it

when you say 4 to 1 what are you doing? 4 full buckets? sounds to me like too much sand in mix or forgot to put portland in that mix?

Can you tell me why when I seal my curbing it turns white after it dries? The mixes are made correctly and sealed properly. But some sections tend to be white and ugly looking
@borders062 жыл бұрын
your not sealing with a water based sealer are you? and when are you sealing the curb?
@justinvansteenkiste69842 жыл бұрын
@@borders06 we use acrylic with 30% solids. And we have experimented with doing it right away, when we finish a job and when we let it cure for 1 day. And still there is white spots periodically in some of the sections we do.

How close are you to Cape Coral? One of the best curbers I know is there and is involved with Borderline.
@hobbieprofessionalservices24545 жыл бұрын
Borderline USA I am in central Florida. Mickey Mouse territory. Cape Coral is about 3 hours south of me. The only problem I have is the water runoff. We get about 10 inches of rain every month in the summer. Hard sell on down spouts and curbing. But you can’t do borders without drainage.

Great detailed info on mixes and curbing but seriously who the f sticks their hand in a running mixer. Stop the damn thing and test your mix, you can buy a new mixer motor if you're worried it'll burn out from continuous restarts, you cant buy a second left arm or a second life for that matter. So many years in business seem you haven't learned a thing about safety.
@borders064 жыл бұрын
I'm sure ur the guy who wears ur safety goggles and ur steel toe boots when u mow ur lawn too. I know hundreds of curbers and I've never met one who doesn't grab a handful off the paddle. If u wanna stop it 30 times to test a mix then do it. I guess I should wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel toes, a mask, and face shield running a curb machine too.

@@borders06 Im sure your comment is intended as humor, no im not that guy. Im a building contractor and I take safety seriously. Hands on contractor not a white collar guy. Putting your hand in a running mixer is equivalent of trying to grease a pto on a tractor while its spinning. You wont meet guys that had an accident because most dont live to tell about it. The least you could do is use a scoop with a decent length handle to test the mix. That wont diminish your test ability one bit, just as fast using your hand but a million times safer. That mixer will snap a shovel like a toothpick, id hate to find out what it would do to a human. Its not paranoia, its common sense. Like I said you can buy new tools, not another arm.
@baronvolkov61724 жыл бұрын
@@borders06 Also im sure that Lni wouldnt give you a safety award for such practice, should they ever stop by while youre working in the neighborhood. But that would be the least of my concern. Just bad practice as an employer, putting yourself in a position for huge liability should an accident happen.

Glenn Jones. The fact of the matter is this isn’t your company. I don’t care about how you do things because we are different. No one does it exactly the same way they do it how they do it and do it to their liking. If you’re so professional and an expert, then you should be more than capable to understand that some thing work for others rather than yourself right? If this is how you are online I couldn’t help but feel sorry for your crew... probably pay them minimum wage too!
