Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.

Only thing Sunday is is the first day of a new week. Worked 14 hrs yesterday and plan on another 14 today. Go time means go time, everything else takes a back seat.

Isn't as bad as me one night, I was tired probably not paying the best attention. Got about 4 yards of dirt ahead of the gang on a Miller disk and ripped it clean off. And if you ever seen one they are heavy built. Tractor never bogged down Turned on the end and guess what it was GONE.

This comment is for Brock. Looks like their is one common denominator with the 3 problems on Sunday. Ha ha it always happens when you try to push at the first of the year. Everything looked good when greasing and making sure everything was ready to go. Push things and they start coming apart. Same here, know how you feel.

All equipment breaks at some point. New or old. I am generally impressed by your maintenance program and also how fast you are usually able to handle pop-up repairs. I may poke fun at not running water through your fertilizer applicators before go time but otherwise things happen.

My father didn’t work Sundays neither do I. It’s not worth missing your kids growing up and a day off makes you more productive the next week. The one Sunday I remember my dad working my brother lost an arm in a farm accident

Last years corn stalks going to beans generally get disked, bean or wheat stubble going to corn always gets field cultivated.

Nathan, it seems you have hit a streak of bad luck where just nothing wants to work with you. I think we are all very aware of the time crunch coming hoping for your sake that you have found a flow-meter for the 2x2x2 fertilizer and are hopefully so busy planting you can not even watch the comments here
