In the last video, I showed how you can set the upper slide by the rolling method with an internal taper indicator in the spindle in order to sharpen any Morse taper without a standard:

When setting the upper slide, I encountered a problem: the short length, by which the lever indicator of the IRB type can go deep inside the cone, is short.
You can also run in short IRBs. But the longer the base, the more accurate the setting. For a more accurate alignment, it is advisable to roll in the entire length of the cone.
If the cones in the spindle are long, a simple internal gauge can be used instead of an indicator of the IRB type.
He unscrewed the fixed rod. Dismantled the centering bridge.
For fixing the inside gauge in the tool holder, I made a holder of two halves. How I did it is shown at the end of the video.
Installed a bore gauge with a holder in the tool holder.
The movable rod rests against the surface to be measured.
Unfolded the metric taper turning carriage 1:20, as in the spindle. That is, the deviation of the indicator when running in the cone should be zero.
It can be seen that it is convenient to measure with an internal gauge.
In order to sharpen any Morse taper with any taper in the spindle, it is necessary to determine (graphically or by a simple formula) the deflection of the indicator when the upper slide moves.
For example, on the MN-80 machine, which has a 1:20 metric cone in the spindle, you need to sharpen KM4, which has an angle greater by about 3 minutes.
With a 39 mm indicator stroke, the indicator deflection should be 38 microns.
I set the upper slide with the inner cone rolling in along the inside meter. Get about 4 ares.
The advantage of using a bore gauge instead of an indicator of the IRB type is as follows.
Firstly, there is a great depth to which the internal gauge can be pushed in, which means that long cones can be rolled along their entire length and have a good base.
Second, there is no cosine error.

If the indicator leg is set perpendicular to the feed direction, then the indicator calls everything correctly, the dial and indicator readings coincide.
Now I put the leg not perpendicular to the feed direction, at an angle of about 45 degrees. The indicator reading will be overstated.
I also serve along the limb for 5 acres.
And the indicator showed 7 acres. I serve for another 5 acres. And the indicator showed not 10 acres, but already 14. I serve for another 5 acres. The indicator showed not 15 acres, but 20. That is, the indicator overestimates by about 1.4 times. This overestimation is the cosine error.
The cosine of 45 degrees is approximately 0.7.
5 acres divided by 0.7 will be 7 acres.
5 / 0.7 = 7. 10 / 0.7 = 14. 15 / 0.7 = 21.
That is, if we need to have an offset of 5 acres, then we need to achieve an indicator reading of 7 acres. Or vice versa, if the indicator shows 7 acres, then in fact the displacement or beating is 5 acres. This example is at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
This must be taken into account when using lever indicators.
And when using an internal gage, there is no cosine error.

With a bore gauge, you can measure both the inner and outer surfaces. Moreover, the runout of the inner surface can be measured far from the end of the part.
