Something you may not know is that, according to concept art, Namielle has the ability to secrete a dark ink-like substance from its wings into the air, which it combines with its bioluminescence to attract small, simple prey in the darkness. This was supposed to be the reason Nami seems to sap the light from its surroundings in the intro cutscene, but this ability never made it into the final fight.

Whoaaa that's so cool! Wish I knew that! Also imagine if that was in the fight. That would have been terrifying hahaha!

Glyde Borealis From what I've looked into, late-development concept art has actually shown a LOT of extra design bits about monsters that never made it into the final game, like Vaal Hazak using its second, larger jaw in a pin-move to deliver a point blank effluvium blast. Also, if you want to see the Nami concept art that proposed its use of ink, there's a video here on KZbin talking about Nam's design history that includes it. You can find it around the 5:31 mark in this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poKTiaiLbLmdeJI

I feel bad for hunting Namielle down. It one of the few passive elder dragons that won't attack anyone unless someone attacks Namielle. And it seems like Namielle knows how to control its powers unlike most elder dragons are very aggressive and isn't self aware of their powers

Namielle could be one of the 5 creation dragons that created the first land, sea, lakes, rain, mountain, sky and the sun. When it does it's Nova it creates a water poddle, like a lake and it rains after just like one of the creations dragons who became the lake and it's scales turned to rain.

It's really inspiring how well this series was made, with some creative uses of the animations and footage to drive home the games' point that these really are animals. Be proud!

Yeah! they're not just boss monsters or targets. They're living, breathing creatures and I cannot praise Capcom for actually spending the time to flesh out the monster roster.
@MissBeeBonnet4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I wonder if Namielle is like a Hagfish, with a special kind of water-retentive slime that she can produce in large quantities by mixing the correct proteins with water? Hagfish can produce upwards of 20 gallons of the stuff, and it helps them both retain water and deter predators; that might explain why the “water” she leaves everywhere sticks to surfaces without dripping or flowing, and why it’s so slippery! It also might explain how she’s able to stay well-hydrated so far from any large bodies of water. :3

I actually looked them up after reading your comment and holy damn that's interesting. I never made the connection! I actually borrowed from Comb Jellies and Electric Eels but your suggestion makes a LOT of sense and I kinda wish I knew before I did the script. Thanks for sharing!

I did a report on the hagfish in school some years ago, and when I learned about Nami's watery slime, the hagfish was the first thing I thought of.

Wouldn’t namielle also be a male?
@GlydeBorealis3 жыл бұрын
I use a sort of "general" she, like how one might refer to a car as a "she". I think remember reading that -elle is an feminine ending for a name. So I referred to them as "she" for the purposes of the narration. Hope that helps =D
