Yes, its the 24mm 1.4 of sigma, I really use this lens a lot and I have nothing to complain about its quality

That would also be manual focus otherwise you'll get nothing if your lens is always searching for focus when the action starts.

Cool post and ideas. Splash image ring light reflection on left side of glass is distracting, in my opinion; how would you alter set-up to fix? Light painting has great possibilities - will try variations myself (have a lens ball and type of disco ball illustrated. LED lights tied on black stick moved around object (model or black figurehead) can also produce unique images - or paint LED sourced light onto model surface instead of around model surface. Trial and error good exposure teacher, else multiple exposures or composites. Have you ever tried/played with fiber optics?

I used my second softbox to film a timelapse, the ring light really does not provide good light here. Next time I use both soft boxes or I put a plastic bag or something on it;) My lens ball just arrived a few days ago, I am pretty excited what kind of images I can get with it. I have not tried fiber optic, hopefully I can borrow a couple of cool new light sources without the need of buying so much stuf...;)

Yes, that should be no problem ( I used 24mm). Just make sure that your camera does not shake when doing light painting and set iso to 100;)

I would say yes. It is very cheap (e-infin com for example) and great if you dont need great af performance. I thought of buying it in 2020 (i got a6300) and using it for macro and time lapse
