Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). This is my issue on the fact as to why the Idris cant officially hold a Valk.... Your telling me a patrol ship either sends down 3 fighters to assess something on the ground, or the entire ship needs to be stationary landed on the ground....

Not sure if you've heard this yet Bored, but there is a problem with those who had a Retaliator bomber before Invictus. The bomber version was $275 & is now converted to the base version worth $150. We do also get both bomber modules so total value is preserved but you can no longer use the Bomber variant as part of a CCU chain as it's value has dropped to $150 if you try to upgrade. CIG is aware & and I hope this gets rectified, but they should have announced this beforehand for those who have been playing the CCU game.

@@PvtDamion I have a Retaliator in a bigger Ship package and noticed, that I got 2 Torpedo Modules without buying them, so I think they compensated it. Module "Bow" and "Stern". I was mad for about a minute when I saw that comment and checked it :D

In fairness, exploiting CCU upgrade chains is not something CIG wants to fix. It's like someone who uses an autoaim program to shoot through walls complaining that they can't cheat anymore. Using CCU chains to get cheaper ships benefits you, but it doesn't benefit the community as a whole if you spend less money and it hurts CIG by crippling their marketing analytics with a market flooded with CCUs that have not been applied or are sitting in buybacks. "Gaming the system" isn't something any company wants to support.

It’s not suppose to. It’s just like a go fund me but on a much larger scale and you get some fun bonuses for giving crazy amounts of money to the game. All for it though cuz it funds the devs :) Even though the prices might be a little extreme

The capital ships always seemed a little crazy to me, the price sure but also just how we'd ever be able to use them still feels a bit way to ambiguous. Though the Idris is pretty impressive to walk around. We'll see how it is to actually use I guess but I wasn't disappointed.

Although I'd expect most people to use that option on occasion and that'd probably still be a unique experience. It just kind of feels like ships like that would require a scale of gameplay that we just haven't had yet. Though personally I'd probably love it if we had it, even if I never felt like I'd get the monies worth (though I can see why the price is that high).

Articificial scarcity for digital items seems to work well here. And You'll need a lot of friends or You'll need to be part of an orga to have the crew to man all important stations and to fly and use it effectively. These are ships designed to be multicrewed.

I had to check my customized database ship sheet of all my 136 ships to see if I already had the Idris and Javelin. Yep! I got them back in 2018 and they are LTI. Funny that I forgot I had these ships in my inventory.

I was actually thinking whether you can have modular systems that you can store/install/uninstall in your cargo bays that would suit different roles. Ie jumpseats, comfort module, medbay module, repair machine shop. Mine, bomb, torpedo, rocket dumpers that would work through open bay doors.

3 Warbond CCUs today: Gladius Valiant for 100 instead of 110, closest is Reliant Mako for 95 but this isn't always available. The Retaliator for 165 instead of 175, closest are Prospector and Razor Ex both are 155. Lastly the Sabre Firebird for 170 instead of 185, the closest would be the Gladiator and SRV at 165.

there is a small ccu drama where retaliator bomber modules are no longer counted for ship base value in upgrade tool also old bomber packages (and ccu) require support help for them to add modules.

Most of that big spenders do so over time as well. You are probably correct that many of those don’t have the time to play the proper amount of time a MMO requires. But you have to appreciate the marketing department in allowing Chris Roberts an eternity to finish his dream game. 🤫

No one who can legitimately afford to spend 3 months mortgage on a game is doing that lol. 3 k liquid implies that you don't have dept to pay off at all. Own a home, vehicle that's newer and not needing repairs and every other modern amenities. Most people can't afford their hobbies and the next gen set to retire won't be buying a thing in retirement. Many boomers spent all their savings long before they died and are living off family and welfare. And I say all this while spending the money on this game that I have that if I am being serious I cannot have afforded lol that money would make a impact on my mortgage Also if it's a poor use of resources that alone implies they can't afford it. Now I will also agree that many people have spent say 3k over 12 years that's less then 300 a year that's not a terrible entertainment budget by any means and then melted all there stuff to get the bigger concepts

It’s not that hard to wrap your head around that Some people are richer than you or me and 3K is affordable to them. There is plenty of money down here in South Florida for me to know not everyone is broke and scraping by. But at least we both agree it’s poor financial advice to spend that kind of money on a game. Anyone with brains would invest in the development of SC for a stake in the game sales or a business loan rather than buy even more ships so Chris can ignore the backers to make HIS vision. Either way, A fair amount of those sold are probably CCU chains but the game has raised hundreds of millions so somebody is spending tons on the game.

As someone who has a Retaliator Bomber, I can confirm this: It was changed in my account to a Retaliator (Base) with the two torpedo modules and when I load it ingame, it's just the base model. Not sure how, or if, I can add the modules back in-game. At the same time, I was also given a Retaliator Base in my buy-back list, which is interesting. I wish they were selling the concept modules without having to buy the entire package as I just want the dropship module paired with the small cargo, which is available. I hope they redesign the living space modules so it's not an empty room with a table as pictured in the thumbnail from the original concept. The retalitor's original modules were sold with limited insurance, so now with 12-year insurance is much more attractive to pick up. I really wish they would just be sold without insurance and just take on the insurance of the parent ship.

I really love the retaliators design on the outside but i absolutely hate the internal layout lol. The cargo modules just look intentionally size limited with how much space they waste in the belly too. That being said, thank you for all the funders and buyers 🎉

I quite honestly like the firebird a lot. I was playing with it today, it just feels really nice. "Medium" fighter, feels like a light fighter. The sound is very nice on it too. My one real critique of the Firebird would probably be that I'd love to see alternate missile racks for it, still bespoke in that they'd only be made for firebirds. But like, 24 s2 or 48s1 would allow a much bigger choice in terms of whether you want a larger missile payload by power, or if you want a payload with greater longevity.

I rented it last night and ran out of ammo on a vlrt bounty. Ballistic gatlings are really weak now. It was very subpar Compared to the avenger warlock. A shame since its a sweet looking ship. The missiles were very disappointing.
