Irish and Scottish Gaelic are two of the Gaelic languages (The other is 'Manx'). They are all descended from the original Irish bronze age language. Welsh is one of the Brythonic languages descended from European Celtic languages. They are all called 'Celtic' languages but are only distantly related. As an Irish speaker, I could understand a Scottish Gaelic or Manx speaker but can't understand Welsh speakers.

You are right about Maltese, it's related to Arabic but has a lot of loan words and derivatives from Latin

@ it’s the only Semitic language native to Europe. Believe it or not, Persian has many cognates with Irish and Scots Gaelic, which is likely due to the Celtic language family once spreading as far east as modern day Ankara. Galata was the name of the Celtic region there, very close to the Persian speaking world

All Slavic languages are closely related, all celtic languages languages are also related to each other.. maltese is arab mixed with italian.

Yes, but very distantly related. They share the language features, i.e. how the words and sentences are created, but almost none of the vocabularies, therefore, a Finn and a Hungarian will not understand each other at all.
