Found out the Borg Cube was going to be released, got super excited and said to myself I was going to buy it day 1. Then saw the issues, bugs and overall let down from how yet another arc is going horribly wrong. So decided to wait and not support scoply for more failures. Also, would like to see the Cube be a little stronger. It’s a damn Borg Cube. Make that thing awesome.

Maybe they will release a better cube, maybe as the Wolf 359 Borg Cube, as the most powerful ship in the game. The cube they added looks like the Artifact, which is most likely less powerful than a standard cube.

Looks like a fun ship, can't wait to get mine. Very disappointed that I can't punch up with the cutting beam. Why does Scopely need to give us something cool and fun and then somehow make it so its not exactly what we thought we were getting. The damage reduction punching has pissed a lot of people off.

Exactly that. It's sad that the whales cried their way to this nerf it feels. All that "give us everything, no advantage for the lower players" will kill the game slowly... So for me the Cube is just useful for the research now. Pretty sad for one of the coolest ship in the Star Trek universe

Maybe scopely can assimilate some of the iPad version bugs which cause the game to completely crash (I.e. app closes or freezes) every few minutes? There’s a risk that their technical debt gets so bad the game goes offline for days or more at some point

The Cube is cool and it looks great (Art Team shout out), but does it really do anything that I care about? There might be some marginally good research, but other than that I don't see anything which improves my gameplay. I can only get the refinery stuff by killing really weak hostiles with the Cutting Beam which seems kind of worthless. Sure, it could be my strongest ship, but how long will it take to get there? Will it really matter once it does? Just seems kind of like a lot of hype for the nostalgic feeling of flying a Cube around and then they slapped a meh loop ontop of it.

Yeah real difficult to go to that "neutral" head space you asked us to go to before the arc when they do the usual arc release practices of shipping broken content then comping us for the 1st week, but this time feels a little bit above and beyond for them. That being said the ship looks cool, probably be that pet ship we feed for spending events until it catches up, curious how quickly that would be for the lvl 50+ players running around in monster sized ships. One thing that I'd love for this ship to do is be able to change ship class while docked allowing you to hunt to the best circumstance, let it truly be the "ultimate" ship in the game.

FYI - once you have gotten your cube, and upgraded it to tier 3, you cannot upgrade it to tier 4 unless you have acquired as well as upgraded your faction ships( such as the Augur ) to tier 3 as well. Also, you will need these same faction ships to acquire the ascension key in order to level up to operations level 40. The good news for this is that you will be able to get everything leveled up as well as researched to level 39. Those ships that you do not use as often as you would like can be scrapped, and the resources reclaimed can be used towards whatever ship(s) you do use regularly. Also, around level 38, you will be able to venture into deep space in order to mine 4* materials. Trust me when I tell you that it is not all that it's cracked up to be. You will only be able to refine the 4* material only to common 4* materials. Forget about 4* uncommon or rare refined material until sometime later. If you find this bit of info helpful, I am very happy.

The decrease in damage for punching up is one of the most retarded debuffs I've seen Scopely do. So punching *down*, which Scopely seems to love encouraging with their ridiculously broad Ops level limits, is fine, but if I want to try and fight back against a 🐋, or just someone who's been at this longer/better than me, I'm now being penalized even more so than that I have less research, lower level/tier officers and ships, but am opting to fight the bigger folks rather than picking on someone smaller than me.

The glitching is at an all time high! Scopely is in serious need of upgrades to THEIR systems. I’m lucky if I can play for 5 minutes before it crashes. And tickets don’t work they fix nothing.

I want to 1st use that cutting beam to cut down mission hostile that are too strong to take on head on in 1 attack, then I will use it in the same way to cut down the enemies in the Q trials that I've been stuck on. I'm a lv 31 semi free to play, player. Battle passes are all I really spend on and rarely. Ships are how they get me. This one is a good addition for those of us who are stuck because of power. Being able to basically hit twice is definitely a plus.

At tier2 i charged the cube in Wolf system, 3 hostile can do 100%, and warped to lover system killing 36k less hull hostile, and back to Wolf for charge. Now with tier3 i can charge in one system and killing a explorer lev33, that lower hull than 50k cutting beam damage. It means 1000+ refinery loot/ full cargo.

From STFC website and stated by Deuce, "Note: If you already have a faction ship high enough for, say, a tier 8 Borg Cube, then you will get all Borg Data Nodes needed to get to tier 8."........This is either an outright lie or yet again another bug. I am a level 35 with a Maxed Auger (Tier 9 Level 45), which should mean I could tier up my Borg Cube to tier 5. I cannot, I am level locked at tier 2 and cannot get the necessary component needed to get the ship to tier 3 until I reach level 36. I bough the Elite Battlepass to get the Cube with the understanding that based on my G3 ships I would be able to get my Cube up to tier 5, not tier 2. This is either fraud or just Scopley incompetence. I could have taken 1st in the lastest Upgrade the Cube SLB event if it weren't for the fact I was level locked (which I shouldn't be according to Scopley and Deuce). I will not move up a level just to be able to tier up a ship that is suppose to not be level locked!

Can finally do the missions 🥳 although if what I'm hearing is right, no point doing the cube mission as you got to build the sodding thing to progress through the mission. Seems a bit pointless, considering most players are likely to get the cube through the battlepass, which means at least a week, assuming you actually manage to complete the daily bp events (dominance event's always tough if you haven't got rss or stuff to build)

Haven’t heard anyone call out that the punching up tax applies to PVE also, not just PVP! Stupid mechanic to diminish the beam damage by attacking higher level hostiles than your ops level

The one thing I like about the cube is that it doesn't become obsolete like the ships we've gotten before. Thus far, all the ships from the Corvette to the Talla and the faction ships all became too weak as we level up. They had to be set aside and scrapped for parts as they were no longer useful. This one won't be outgrown any time soon.

Hit swarm, then go to near by system to kill. Amalgam system traders have 50400 health so they won't die in one shot and when the tier is high enough to one shot it, you'll be getting less materials than you could recieve.

Anyone explain why the level of hostile the cube can kill is 2x higher than the level of hostile the beam can kill? I literally grind level 60 freebooters with my t7 and the cutting beam barely kills a level 25 hostile at 100%.

I think this is going to be a fun ship to supplement your other factions ships. The first few tiers is fine. But If we followed your advice and skip g4 epics and only take g5 uc to t4, its going to be a while on the tier with g4 rares till you get a g5 rare. Is the new strategy going to be is take g5 uc to t6 if skipping g4 epics to get the cube caught up? Just wondering if this ship will change your advice on how far to take a g5 uc ship unless they lower requirements on g5 uncommon ships.

Other than buying the blueprints from the store, how does us poor players get the necessary number of blueprints so that we can build our cube? Scopely has us grinding away for Hirogen relics everyday for Voyager blueprints. What hell do we have to endure just for adding the cube to our fleets?

I see the Borg Cube more as a missed opportunity to really make something special in the game. It would have been much better if there had been different research trees from which you had to choose which one you wanted to do for your type of gameplay, you cannot choose everything. This way everyone gets a unique and home-made Borg Cube in the game, which completely suits you, how you want to play this game. It's now just like any other so call special ship in the game with a few exceptions. In my opinion this can still be added and will make it much better and more special for every player in the game.

@12:40 getting into this ship after event store. The ops penalty is pretty lame. Extends the grind or forces you to push up ops. Currently ops 46 and can only hit a level 46 (Jem'Hadar) with cutting beam, but 51 Jem'Hadar no problem with attack

One thing you did not mention is it is ops locked also. My cube is currently tier 2 and im ops 35. I cannot take it to tier 3 until i move to ops 36. Also for me the cube is garbage as my enterprise and augur way surpass the damage output for my current level.

Rev you said a cube would be a real warship, comparable to the good ones at the player level... well, I'm at ops 42 and cannot upgrade my cube anymore. It says I need tier 6 of my valdore. But my cube is only 3M power, which is very weak for my level. This is the power of a centurion, it should be at least comparable to an enterprise.

More grind. Huge material costs. Instakill beam only use full to bully much lower Ops. For low spend will never be as strong as your main ship as you won't have the high tiers or epics which you need. 1/10

Borgs were the strongest menance in Star Trek... in STFC we easily kill cube armadas, many borg hostiles, and now our own cube is weak. makes no sense withing the Star Trek universe. 😛

I don't like you are required to get specific ships. Like most skip g4 epics. Now we have to not only get it but also tier it quite a lot otherwise our cubes would be severerly underpowered for a very long time...

You can still skip it. Just until you pick and level a ship above that your cube would be limited to your highest ship. As soon as you get your next highest ship above g4 epic then your max cube level would jump to that of the next ship.

Got my cube today as did many and WOW this is the most annoying thing EVER to fly around to multiple systems charging and discharging the cutting beam all while avoiding pirates who are just OPC hunting. I think I'll put this on the shelf for a while before I rage quit this game.

The cube looks pretty but I don't see how it would be useful as it is right now. The cutting beam is so piss weak, I'll have to punch down to get kills with it. And from the numbers I've seen it can't really kill regular faction hostiles with the beam until its maxed and has enough damage to kill any regular hostile.. At ops 39,I grind in capital systems. the cutting beam does 168k damage if it's maxed at my ops. If it had 100x the damage and could nearly 1 shot a hostile I usually kill, then I'd be interested in it. They'd have to adjust the damage per tier cause it's almost decent at higher tiers. For now it's just a ship that's good looking with an annoying loop cause its damage is too low & The research is paltry and not worth the effort IMO.
