Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm not a mechanic, and I'm troubleshooting my truck now trying to find the source of a noise. One thing I was considering was possibly the chain. I had no idea what I was getting into, or if it was even DIY-able. I'm still not sure if this is my issue, but at least now I have the knowledge to do a chain replacement if I need to do that. Great video, much appreciated!

chain replacement is easy. you should also consider replacing the pump and bearings while it is apart

I am working on a truck with one of these transfer cases and it melted that white plastic part into a puddle. Now I see what it was for, thanks!

wow. was it out of fluid? that's pretty impressive. I bet the bearings and electronics are cooked.

Thanks for making this. There is literally nothing on BW transfer cases and this is the only video I can find about the 44 series TCs. I wish you had included how to remove/replace that planetary. Mine seems to be held in by a hidden ring clip or something and every video always skips that step.

Heck yeah I’m gonna try to rebuild. I got excessive play at rear driveshaft. Thinking bearings are smoked. 1100hp.

@@AJMassaro-ln2bu be careful hammering the bearings in. Try freezing or heating to get couple thousands of clearance in your favor

@@jtv407 I got a big bottle of C02 and a makeshift cooler turned freezer for bearings. Have a small hand held induction heater but never tried it on bearings. Might work. May need to create a lube tube here 🤣

Is it possible for you to explain how the actuator shaft is aligned with the forks? Or by any chance have a pic? When I reinstalled case it was stuck.i. 4 low...now I got it out and want to do it correctly.

@@djbermski sorry I'm just seeing this. The fork rides on the cam and it pushes and pulls the lock ring to engage the planetary, I'm sure I'm too late but I hope you had good luck figuring it out.
