Doc, I like the way you cut oil grooves into the bushings. I recently watched a video by Keith Rucker where he was finishing up repairing a huge cane mill for someone. The cane mill had babbitt bearings (before a fire, I think) and Keith re-poured all of them. He used a die grinder with (maybe) a conical-pointed bit (or a ball-shaped bit?) to cut oil grooves where needed. After that he used a bearing scraper over the grooved areas to ensure that no burrs were left. This could be a second way for you to add oil grooves if & when needed in the future. This video is a definite thumbs-up!

Very good. Those gears look more like tusks!

It’s the largest tooth profile I’ve cut and yeah they are right big teeth indeed!

Very nice. You sold me, I've been wanting to make a boring bar, now I'm going for it. I'm not sure if it's just the camera angle, but the roots in those gear teeth looked to be different widths as well as depths. Keep up the great work and Merry Christmas.

The worked way better than I hoped it would, really happy and will be making some other indexable tooling in the future. Yeah they look terrible and I may end up making a new one down the track if I’m not happy with how it runs under power. The involute tooth profile while rather forgiving of minor errors isn’t able to correct for all errors so we shall see how it goes soon.

Pretty soon, lots of change gears to be made and I’ll likely make a new back gear, not 100% happy with this one as it stands.
