Hi Nick & Jodi, Congrats on 100k Subs, glad you had partial enjoyment of this program. This was one of the most popular ITV comedies of it`s time, I believe they made 2 feature films as well. Like you Nick, I grew up enjoying some similar U.S. comedies. Only in my case, just a year after they were broadcast over there. I saw & enjoyed the last couple of episodes of Car 54, Where Are You ?, !st Sci-Fi comedy My Favorite Martian, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Beverley Hillbillies, The Addams Family, The Munsters, Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie, F-Troop & Get Smart. All amazingly different to our own `60`s comedy shows which I also enjoyed. I also watched & enjoyed many `60`s U.S. Sci-Fi programs as well. Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, Lost In Space, Time Tunnel, The Invaders & The Land of The Giants. As well as those, I loved the Spy-Fi show The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which my Dad & I watched every week, without fail. So, I have great memories of the `60`s as a member of the new Tv generation.

"never mind about [whatever] mate, you wanna see what [something else] !!!" ^ The staple of British chat back in the 70s, I'm guessing most blokes said this 10 times a day or more lol Expressions have changed a lot over the years. Most of us can remember at least our fathers or grand-fathers saying the above. It's nice to remember them merely by how a sentence is worded! Great stuff, thanks guys!

Was this video a (badly) restored and recoloured black and white episode. I have this episode in colour and it doesn't flicker between black and white and colour like this. Was this episode originally in black and white then recoloured, or is this one of the episodes where they (ITV) recorded over the originals and we're left with only the b&w copies?
@TheZodiacz

It was originally shown as black and white due to a technicians strike. I'd never seen a colourized version of it before.

Great stuff .... some of the episodes are very funny, especially in the earlier series episodes, there are some very funny moments and situations. Most of my favourite episodes come from series 3 and 5 with a few in series 1 and 2, and about half of series 4. Series 6 and 7 were okay with a couple of episodes being good but the rest were just okay.

Yeah I feel the show was at its best in series 3 to 5, with some good episodes in series 1 and 2. By series 6 I think it had past its best days, but a few of the episodes in that series were still pretty good, series seven the show was really struggling, but even that series had a few good episodes. I actually have always loved the show, the movies are good as well, the first two being the best, but the third one is still worth watching but just not as funny as the first two.

They took £0 4s 8d in fares or four shillings and eight pence in 1970. Which is 24p in today's money and was equivalent to £3.29p in today's purchasing power. (Data supplied by the internet). As a kid, I do remember buying 4 blackjacks for a 'ha'penny from the local sweet shop.

Congrats on reaching 100K subs. If you want to experience on of the greatest British comedies, you could react to Only Fools and Horses. It was a comedy that improved as it went on. Might have to watch it and then edit it down as it is BBC and will be copyrighted. But I think it would be more to Jodi's taste.

G'day Guys! You should try to find some other British comedies from that era like Steptoe & Son which was "cloned" into Sanford & Son in the US also 'Til Death Do Us Part which became All in the Family in the US version... Cheers!

@@martinwebb1681 I think you have confused 'Till Death Do Us Part with Warren Mitchel & co from the mid 60's series with something else...Alf Garnett even avoids the risqué epithet 'cow' when referring to his wife as a 'silly old moo' There is no language in that show which would have any problem with the censors except some of Alf's references to LFC! @@clivegilbertson6542 ... No, I'm not confused. I happen to have the whole series of "Till Death Us Do Part", he uses the S and C words (referring to black people) a lot. As well as making references about people from Liverpool etc. It would not be allowed to be shown on here. I think you are the one who is confused, the reference about calling his wife "silly old moo" refers to a later series with them in which was called "In Sickness and in Health".
