On the serve, Boris had a wonderful motion that transferred the weight beautifully into the swing. It's quite smooth and easy on the body, and even old, fat Boris who doesn't play much any more can still crank it up over 130 when he tries. the groundstrokes you are right, his strength and ability made up for technical shortcomings. His backhand in particular, you need a really strong forearm to swing like that, which is probably why he was so good at backhand returns, even on high kicking balls.

@whity72 back then they had heavy racquets, shortening your swing would strain your forearm. the heavier the racquet is, you can easily swing the racquet with little effort :)

Same as his service his forehand was anything else than efficient, it costs too much strength, watch the backswing. But who am I to criticise this? :))
