Omg you don’t know how happy I am when I saw you reacting to another Boris album. The next one you should check out is Akuma No Uta. It’s really the best place to start if you wanna get into Boris. It has a bit of everything that the band is known for. After that Pink and Heavy Rocks 2002 are must listens.
@cousinbocephus82263 ай бұрын
Boris named themselves after a song made by Melvins, which is one of the heaviest songs ever conjured on this earth. Melvins is criminally underappreciated and overlooked by so many people for unknown reasons. They are MONOLITHIC in sound just like Boris is here. Bullhead, Houdini, and Lysol are a must listen for anyone who likes MASSIVE guitar tone. They are also credited as being the ones who created (or influenced the creation of) sludge metal.

Some really needed metal recommendations Tool: Aenima Megadeth: Peace Sells and Rust in Peace Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power Metallica: Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets Judas Priest: Painkiller Faith no More - Angel Dust Deftones - Around The Fur Type O Negative: Octuber Rust Agalloch - The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain Isis - Panopticon Death - Honestly, every album by them from the 90's is goated, but Symbolic is a very welcoming album for people who have no experience with death metal Opeth - Damnation, Ghost Reveries and Blackwater Park Gojira - From Mars to Sirius These are some very iconic and easy albums to listen if you don't have a lot of prior experience with the genre, i feel it's really important to start with some of these as it can ease you up for the harsher stuff that you'll find by the lots, have fun

Idk if someone already said this before but i would recommend listening to natural snow buildings they are mostly a drone, dark ambient, post rock, free and psych folk band, they got an album called the winter ray and its purely just post rock ambient and drone and its one of the most beautiful listening experiences i ever had, it sounds like exploring a nuclear winter fallout and finding remnants of the past when disaster hadnt happened 10/10 from my part another album from theirs is The dance of the moon and the sun which i kinda compare to STFB by swans but has more of a central theme and its offers alot more psych folk post rock and dronier elements to it, however almost all albums frome theirs are kinda long spanning 2 hours minimum lol especially with daughter of darkness being 7 and a half hours long

I really really enjoy Boris even though I only listen to their stuff from 2008 and before. It's hard picking a favorite album, but this one might be it for me. Wata is one of my favorite guitarists. I love not only the technical ability and tonal range, but how emotive she is with her playing. They really know how to create an energy and an atmosphere. Flood definitely has layers emotionally, but it's a beautiful album I always look forward to experiencing again. Definitely check out Pink by them next. It has post-rock elements, but it's really an amalgamation of every genre they've done at that point. It's a big mix of post-rock, noise rock, hard rock, stoner metal, sludge metal, doom metal and psychedelic rock. A very cool and unique listen. The intro to the album, Farewell, is their best song imo. Keep up the great work Smags!

Gotta react to Akuma No Uta next. Flood is my favorite Boris album, but Akuma No Uta is a VERY close second. Gives you everything you want in an album
@violetjune50465 ай бұрын
Great review of this. Flood was one of the first albums along with Mount Eerie and The Seer that taught me the virtue of long form story telling with sound. Hearing this was sort of a revelation. I remember being annoyed with part 1 the first time I heard it to the point where I just turned it off. It wasn't until a few months later when I pushed through it and heard the majesty of the entire record that it clicked and gave me a new found appreciation for minimalism and these sort of slow moving slow changes.

great video, love seeing people react to this album! And If ur up for the challenge you should listen to "rock dream" by Boris and Merzbow, it's just under an 2 hours of the best Boris (all of feedbacker + some songs from pink + some songs from akuma no uta and more (but sadly no flood). it is with Merzbow who is added on for more noise, it's one of the best albums ever (in my opinion) and maybe the best thing to come from Boris overall.

Love your reaction when the distorted guitar first comes in. It's easy to clown on but there really is nothing like something like that hitting you after the music has spent so long lulling you into a meditative state. Also, if we're talking long-form meditative single-song post-metal albums (one of my favourite genders fr), Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch is really something
