Excellent! It really shows how Valchek was just a kid on a playground who was playing a nasty, but childish, grudge. He wanted to see Soptka hurt but he didn’t want anyone to get murdered over it. I love how the Wire does this. Even the villains are human, no antagonist is without sympathy or at least some degree of humanity.
