Garbage is the mafia bread and butter. Also, a lot of the high-ranking guys like Tony and Paulie have a W-2 from sanitation and it’s probably the only reason they can spend as much as they want and not wind up in jail because of the IRS.

Tony respected Baron because Baron is a self-made man with the character and chops to lead a successful enterprise Tony himself was reliant on. Tony appreciates Baron's leadership and what he does for the mob, Baron appreciates Tony actually entering a mutually beneficial relationship with him and keeping things civil. His relationship with Baron is basically the closest Tony gets to being able to cordial with someone on "his level" without needing to worry about power games and back-stabbing.

I wonder what Tony would have done if Kid Barrone went to him and told him Pauly attacked him and wants 48 K a year. Tony was already pretty sick of Pauly and it was disrespectful to go against Tonys word he gave to the Mother, Tony and Dick seemed to have a good relationship. Would Pauly really have chased him down to the West Coast if the son called Tony from 1000 miles away?

I always assumed it was whole sale not direct to customer. So you keep the 10kg of coke in your garbage truck cause cops don't stop a garbage truck then you give it to whoever is picking it up on the route or even dump it in the person's bin and they take it from there's I assumed the money was handled elsewhere.
