Yeah the amount of artists you instinctually mention show the amount of DNAs Lana altered with this album. I will note that Florence with Ceremonials and Marina with Electra Heart make up the holy trinity for why Lorde, Billie, Chappell, Dua, Melanie and so many others came up the way they have. It's really interesting to listen to some of the demos from this album! "This is What Makes Us Girls" used to have a faster BPM with heavier hip-hop percussion (in one of the demos at least, as several have leaked), and the demo for "National Anthem" is like a grungy alt-rock song. I do like the final versions too though.

I think I was 9 (almost 10) when I first heard Off to the Races because my dad was a fan since we’re from Scotland and her bf at the time was from Glasgow. My mum heard him listening to it one night through his headphones and she liked it so much she bought the song on iTunes. I heard her listening to it and that was me hooked. I heard a few more songs after that but it wasn’t till I got Apple Music at 14/15 that I could fully appreciate the album. It’s been 12 years since I fell in love with her music and I’m still very much in love with this particular album. She is incredible and I will always favour this album over many things❤

Whenever Lana releases a new album or song, there would always be like a song that i would really love BUT i would always always go back to Off To The Races. My favorite song of hers so far. I still remember the first time I heard the song, and I still feel the same.

I remember listening to this album for the first time back in 2012 and instantly becoming obsessed after listening to video games and this is what makes us girls. Started listening to her older stuff from her undiscovered era. Been a fan ever since. Saw her live in Houston during the LA to the moon tour back in 2018. She’s amazing

I love how she uses such ancient and cinematic references. Of course Lolita is the most known, but Carmen is inspired on an Oera and a french novel about a Spanish femme fatale who walked on Seville streets and caused the perdition of men in s.XIX

I was always thought of the first verse of National Anthem was sung by Jackie’s perspective and the second was Marilyn’s.
