Perfect timing! At the moment I received the notification, I wasn't in the best of moods, maybe leaning toward a darker place! Boom, in that moment, everything changed with that notification.

Hey I love the rifle bull hunt in my home state of Idaho. It's kept me from bow hunting the last 6 or 7 years. It's rough country and makes it still mentally tough. Good job Trent keep poking Trevor. Haha love your new rifle season hunting you've done the last couple years.

880? Shouldn't even be a question. Even if you had some GunWerks setup for shooting to the moon. How much technology do we want to use to fill our desire to kill a bull? There should be some allowance for saying, "You know, that bull got the best of us, he's safe for now."

I wouldn't say extremely do able when 75% of the people out there shouldn't be shooting past 300 yds. Not to mention trying to call the wind in those big canyons. A very small percentage of hunters have that ability.

2024-2025 seasons: In many Idaho units, the lack of grazing and the severe winter of 2022 claimed much of the Southeastern mule deer and elk herds. However, it did expose a problem. Uncheck and unlimited elk tags are dimishing elk herd numbers severely. We all know that a large amount of revenue comes from hunting tags, so why not look the other way and exploit the wildlife? Hunters can look for a ungodly price hike by the local land owners for their trespass fees to hunt on their land during the 2024 season due to the governments shutting off the groundwater water farmers need in the Southeast portion of Idaho. The land owners need the hunter revenue to retain their land. Elk and deer herds will need to travel further for food and water, so, forget about your favorite spot and be prepared to start all over again looking for deer and elk. Looking ahead, I can foresee the day when Idaho will be forced to go to a "Controlled draw" system only for game management to keep herd numbers healthy, ... and use a periodic unlimited tag season for backup should the herds grow too large. Yes, I know this means the price of hunting tags will need to increase, but the economical signs show we are headed that direction anyway. Folks, its "darned if we do, and darned if we don't!"

Liked the hunt - but did I miss something here? You guys are considering the pack - which I would too - but you've got horses? Unless they were not used on this hunt. Who the hell cares how far away that incredible bull is?!?! Try packing out a 1,000 lbs. of moose on your back like me and two other faithful partners helped me out with. My dream hunt is to go elk hunting in Idaho on horseback. I know you guys loved the trip and the hunt.

Disagree a bit, every elk I’ve seen shot with a 6.5 has died cleanly with one shot. BUT those are bonded or copper bullets at less than 300 yards with proficient shooters. Anything else is a hard no

My son and I have dropped multiple elk at 300+ yards with 6.5CM with one shot. My son had to shoot one last year three times with a 300WM. Placement is key on any caliber and any animal.
@Blueberryheadbandd
@Blueberryheadbandd Жыл бұрын
@@WyoMountaineerBigXII placement is key on any animal with any caliber. Agreed. HOWEVER bullet ballistics, kinetic energy on target and bullet construction are also key. 937 yards on a bull with a 6.5 of any flavor is ethically wrong (to me). But these guys are also trying to peddle and promote a rifle that shouldn’t even be used on elk in the field. My opinion on the matter still stands. Obviously you’re not alone and many others have killed elk with a 6.5. It’ll eventually do it I just personally think it’s the wrong tool for the job.
