Relief materials worth millions of Naira and food items were today distributed to the victims of fire disaster in Muna IDPS camp by the Borno State Government.
The fire outbreak which occured yesterday night at Muna IDPS camp as a result of cooking gas has claimed 2 lives and leaving one injured while properties worth millions of Naira comprises of one thousand three hundred and seven houses, sewing machines, domestic animals, bicycles ,food items and wears were all destroyed during the inferno.
Borno State Deputy Governor H.E Umar Usman Kadafur in company of the Director General State Emergency Management Agency have today visited the IDPS camp , sympathised with the victims and distributed relief materials and food items to them.
The deputy governor said they were in the IDPS camp to convey the sympathy of the government and to condole the families of those who lost their lives and urged them them to consider the incident as an act of God and take preventive measures against future occurrence.
The deputy governor assured them that very soon they would be relocated back to their ancestral homes and called on them to abide by all the rules and regulations of the IDP Camp stated therein by the management .
The Director General SEMA Dr Barkindo muhammad Saidu had earlier informed the deputy governor on the extent of damage and the cause of the fire incident stressing that immediately the incident was reported they have rushed to the scene and have taken stock of all the properties destroyed as well as the number of casualties.
Some of the victims who spoke thank the state government for coming to their aids .
Items distributed include 1500 mats,1500 mattresses and 1500 blankets and food items among others.
