Still digesting - but here are some initial thoughts: the opening uses a lot of 4th which is very unusual for Lyatoshynsky (as far as I know); the motif is difficult to discern - at least I have not found it yet; Consistent with the late Lyatoshynsky style there are polytonal techniques; when polytonal techniques is not heavily used it sounds like earlier Lyatoshynsky works such as the Golden Hoop opera which was high dissonant and chromatic and symphony no.2 (particularly the 3rd movement); When it's neither polytonal nor dissonant it sounds a bit like the symphonic poem From the Banks of Vistula (which has the theme of uniting the Slave people); counterpoint technique is used in an interesting way, sometimes within the same key and sometimes in a polyphonic way. I have no knowledge of the background of this work or under what circumstance it was composed, so I can only guess what Lyatoshynsky's intention is behind this work - do you have more background on this?
