Precision tool ! Bosch makes the most compact screwdriver, I use mine all the time. I hate using full size tools, only like using the larger tools when I am using a hole saw 2” on up. We aren’t all building decks or driving fasteners that will be hidden behind the walls. If you are looking for a tool that is precise and allows for full user control, Bosch 12v stuff is the way to go and especially the 12v screwdrivers which I adore

@@greentjmtl I used the Röhm EXTRA 50-RV. It is the smallest 13mm / 1/2 inch chuck there is, at only 51mm long, so the drill keeps its compact profile. I think it's only 1-2mm longer than the plastic chuck it comes with.

I wanted to do that on my GSB 12V-15, but could not manage to remove the original chuck. I know the normal way is to put an allen key in the chuck and hit the allen key to free the screw, but I found that the chuck could not hold the allen key tightly enough: so the allen key would rotate in the chuck before the chuck would break loose. Is there a secret?

I have been watching this video multiple times. I came to conclusion that Bosch drills are pretty underrated. I own the Flexiclick and I think that tool is better than the Milwaukee installation driver that I own as well (I am getting rid of it). I agree with with that I prefer the Bosch mainly for its form factor.

They are indeed. They are never the most powerful or whatever, but the user feel is the best. I've used the red and yellow brands at work and they all have janky things that are annoying to use. Bosch isn't immune, but is the best in comparison.
@ProxyFinal

@@greentjmtl I was holding the red against the Bosch and it’s just clunky and unbalanced. What drives me crazy is the length of the tool. It’s in no way compact. The Flexiclick just makes sense in every way. You actually convinced me to get the pocket driver as well. I understand Milwaukee is the one that came up with this idea of multi head, but Bosch took a step further by simplifying it.

Good video. I agree about the chuck on the older style driver, wish they were the same. I also like how the newer 300HX model has the sturdy metal insert but not sure why they didn't make it tighter fitting. I also liked the bigger fastener for the belt clip on the PS22 model versus the smaller fastener on the newer one. Ive had 2 strip out with ease.. But I love the Bosch 12volt BRUSHLESS line of tools. Including the Bosch line I have 4 different Makes of 12v tools and drill&drivers. Including (Makita Milwaukee and Dewalt) as far the power in comparison to others in the 12v line from my own comparison the Bosch drill and drivers have more torque, are more compact and also lighter. This is also true for the oscillating tools with Makita being close in performance to Bosch with less Vibration. However I do not have the newest Milwaukee M12 oscillating tool to comapre it to, and the others are brushed except for the Bosch of course being brushless. The Bosch Jig saw is awesome also however I'll say the Makita has a little better in performance as well has fit and function in the Jig saw category. Milwaukee is okay but is too heavy for the amount performance it offers, and the ergos (subjective) aren't as good either, Dewalt doesn't make one that I'm aware of here in the States. As for the receipt saws Bosch is once again compact with great performance, however it doesn't have the best performance but it's still my preferred tool. Makita is light and love the double trigger but performance is lacking a bit I comparison, Dewalt is a great performer with good hand grip ergos (subjective) but it's block, heavy and not as compact. Same goes for the Milwaukee, it's built well, Great performance but it's got the same down falls as the dewalt. If anyone is thinking about picking up the Bosch 12v sander I would not hesitate! It does everything well with its great compact size.

Yep Bosch tools are very balanced and well done on most aspects. The only thing annoys me is how slow they are releasing brushless models of their tools. Milwaukee already has like 5 brushless bandsaws , and Bosch released a new brushed one last year.

It does depends on what you use your tools for. For me (as an electrician) the additional benefit isn't worth the added weight in my tool bag. Now if they release a model that could convert among driver/impact/hammer drill, then heck I'm in.

I think these are very powerful drills for their size. That is why I ordered one. I wanted a small, light weight drill that will still be useful, and I think Bosch has some nice solutions. I have my Makita 40V XGT combo for things that require more power, but they can get heavy after a while, and if you are only driving little screws why bother?

I have two PS20 12V Bosch and use the 2 amphr batteries with good success for screwing soft brass wood screws into walnut or maple or red oak. I bought the new 12V300 brushless and find the trigger to be very sensitive yet progressive as speed increases. The old PS20 are 500 max rpm and the 300 is 460 rpm on low speed. I find the trigger on the 300 series brushless to be the best for wood screws in terms of feel and speed up to max screw penetration which avoids broken screws that need to be drilled out and a wood splint inserted and glued to catch the same size screw. With the light weight of the 12V Bosch tools I find control of the screwing to be the best possible with the correct clutch setting in avoiding destroying the Phillips head screws. Snap-On phillip #1 bits are the best for soft brass screws driving.

You say it's on an entirely different level from the brushed versions, but I'm still tempted to get the GSR 12V-15 over the Bosch GSR 12V-35 (or similar GSR12V-300HX) due to the overly sensitive trigger on the 35 for slower drill speeds. Why do you like the brushless so much? Is it just the faster 1750rpm over the 1300rpm or is it something more?

Torque, I can drive commonly used spade bits and larger fasteners without grabbing the 18v tools. Also the efficiency is nice so I don't have to worry about batteries since I don't have a charger at work.

I know this is a 2yo video but I’m not able to find much information in these models. Do you happen to know what the difference is between these GSB12V-300 and the GSB12V-30? I mean 30 and not 35, which is a different version. Also, do you know if it’s possible to install a metal chuck on these models? I believe I saw the GSB12V-30 advertised with a metal chuck but I’m not sure if that’s something that can be installed in the regular versions. Thanks!

First time I've ever heard of that model, seems to be made specifically for some markets and slightly weaker. There's another comment mentioning install metal Rohm chuck. I found it but didn't go through because the chuck cost almost as much as the drill does. So far the plastic chuck works fine and I don't see a reason to change it (unless you really want a 1/2" chuck).

To my knowledge the only machine with a brushless motor in this comparison is the GSB12V-300. Hence the letter "B" in the model number.

It's a shame that they went with the push back bit release on the driver, that is a bit of a deal killer for me. I frequently am drilling test holes in air ducts with a 1/2" Unibit, and the push back style release can drop my bit into the duct when I punch through. I've lost several bits that way with other drivers. I guess I'll snap up a couple of extra PS22s before they are all gone.

Can you explain the difference between GSR12V-300 and GSR12V-300? In terms of use scenarios and why you would use one over the other tool? Both are screwdrivers?
@greentjmtl
@greentjmtl 3 жыл бұрын
I presume you meant the 300 and 300HX? The only difference is 300 has a three jaw chuck, 300HX has a 1/4" chuck. For people who use it on screws majority of the time, the 3 jaw chuck is extra weight and size that's not needed 95% of the time, and slows down bit switching, so might as well omit it.

@@greentjmtl Thank you for the comment. Yes, I made a mistake I meant the 300 and 300HX. So the 300HX is kinda like the impact drill, but for more delicate work? You mentioned it's a little more difficult than the PS22 to go lower speeds with. Is that a huge problem or can you still go slow with it just with a very delicate touch of the trigger?
@greentjmtl
@greentjmtl 3 жыл бұрын
@@Ryezn5057 I suppose you could say that, the chuck is similar to an impact driver, but shallower and can take 1" bits, plus no impact. I don't find the less sensitive trigger to be too big of a problem, you just have to be consciously careful about squeezing the trigger and turn down the clutch on delicate screws. Although if you work on delicate stuff all the time, there is an better option from Makita (DF012DSE), but it's very low powered and cannot handle bigger stuff.
