I have (and still have) a similar Machine, Bosch V454, looks exactly like this machine, 35 years later and still works!

Old appliances fascinate me, they're significantly simpler yet much more reliable overall. You didn't see a lot of plastic components, and they seem to last forever.

Theoretically solid state electronics should be way more reliable than mechanical controls but somehow in practice they aren't. I can believe that manufacturers intentionally design it to break so the machine is too expensive to fix in 10 years and you buy another. But plastic parts are just the worst thing. Bosch is especially guilty of that, for an expensive brand they use some horrible fragile plastics.

@jm036 Manufacturers definitely skimp on quality, and design their product with planned obsolescence in mind. Also regarding the durability of electronics vs mechanical or electromechanical stuff, it really depends. Older washing machines used electromechanical timers, which are very basic state machines, with big chunky contacts. There's nothing complicated about them, and there's not much that can break (other than the contacts oxidizing over time). Modern washing machines use microprocessors, with lots and lots of auxiliary components which are susceptible to damage from fluctuations in temperature, current, moisture and so on (especially if they're of dubious quality). Not to mention the myriad of sensors that can break and prevent the machine from working. It's very hard today to find good quality appliances. Even the brands which used to be known for their durability are not as well made as they used to be.

Interesting, I remember buying a pair of brushes for my Asko 16004 (that has the same motor as yours) and they were still readily available. This was almost 10 or so years ago though.

Maybe if I would look for simmilar models I would get the brush complete. My local electronic stores didnt have them in the reight size, but these also work no problem.
