Just wanted to say thank you very much for this video. I'd actually bought one of these because I already had Bosch cordless kit already and so have spare batteries if necessary. Your description on how to put this together was really helpful and allowed me to put mine together with ease. Mine came with a 2.5amp battery so I'm hoping to get some decent cuts from it (mine included a bottle of oil as well thankfully so didn't need to buy that separately).

Great saws, for some reason my nose bar protector fell off. Still have the saw but now use a Makita 18v top handle. Only downside to the Makita top handle is the temperature protection of the motor so you cant do too many cuts before it cuts out.

Thanks Russell, just wanted to ask how this compares to a stihl msa140? I just need a saw to chop firewood so stihl maybe over the top but just wanted to know how good this is?
@RussellPlatten Жыл бұрын
You can see in the video. It is a great little saw for the price Simon. The Stihl would probably be better but for way more money. I am happy with mine. :-)

Excelent video. As you went I was mentally listing things you missed, but then you covered them all!! I particularly liked the "assemble without the battery" and your demonstration of good chain tension.One question though, does Bosch say anything about using low adhesive chain oil. Some electric saw makers recomend it, presumably to reduce the chips sticking in the bar/chain/mechanism. I look forward to your "in use" review. Do you need both hands to use it? I prefer electric as light and controlable for small jobs but I have steered clear of cordless saws because of early disappointments with battery life and power but that looks just the job for thin limbs particularly from a ladder or platform one handed and one hand to hold on.
@RussellPlatten2 жыл бұрын
No Emma, there is no mention of low adhesive oil. You should use both hands on the saw. One handed operation is inherently dangerous! I have been on the receiving end of a chainsaw kick back and was taken to hospital in an ambulance. It happens so quickly and there is no time to react. I have a lovely scar on my head to remind me of the incident! :-)

@@RussellPlatten Good point. Makes it less useful unfortunately.

I reckon most people will end up using it one handed on occasion. :-)

How is the nose bar removed from the chain bar

I had to drill the rivets out to remove it. :-)

How did you remove the stabilizing tip protector?
@RussellPlatten Жыл бұрын
I used an angle grinder to grind the rivet down enough to allow me to knock it out with a punch Aydin. :-)

Cool, a couple of observations though. The saw might be great for sculpting tree trunks but the guard at the very end of the blade would be a problem, is it removable. With it looking so light I'd end up doing a very non-Health and Safety mod by mounting it on the end of an 8 foot pole to reach higher branches, don't try this at home folks. :D
@RussellPlatten2 жыл бұрын
I think I may just do that Paul, but after I finish the review! :-)
@RussellPlatten2 жыл бұрын
I never answered your question. The guard is not designed to be removed, but most users end up removing it anyway. I think I will do the same too. :-)
