It’s always amazing to me how much of the sound of the VW TDI engines came from the injection pump itself!

Leave the full load adjustment screw alone !!!!! Hmmmm.... I would want to, but I'm so tempted of power on one hand and extreme fuel economy on the other hand. Thanks for the video, it explains a lot.
@Nudnik14 жыл бұрын
It doesn't increase power just makes alot of smoke. Over fuel does not increase power unless more air is also pushed into combustion chamber with extra fuel . New CAT Cummins no smoke 600+ Hp dual stage variable geometry turbo push huge amounts of air into engine with more fuel to make more power. Not just extra fuel dumped in.
@charlesdean91784 жыл бұрын
@@Nudnik1 Exactly, that's the whole point! I bought a new turbo charger better than the old (oem) one .
@Rx7man4 жыл бұрын
@@Nudnik1 fuel makes power, not air.. air cools the charge and makes it burn clean. unless you increase fuel, a different turbo isn't going to make any more power in a diesel. Yeah, what's the displacement of those new Cat Cummins? My 5.9L 12V makes more power than that so it's not exactly impressive. Also, increasing the full load screw setting doesn't really affect fuel mileage unless you're always using that additional fuel, at cruising speeds, your fuel delivery is set by the governor

Yes they are good videos. However, does anyone have the data sheets to set these ve pumps up...or is there a link....l cannot find one. I need help, l have rebuilt mine and need to double check the gaps etc.. But not having much luck Also the timing should be taken from the pumps TDC ie max movement of the plunger...that is clear and not BDC....this can be a bit misleading...but the video shows TDC...and then you work backwards. However, l may be wrong. Maybe l could be corrected. Thanks

From what I can tell, those are closely guarded trade secrets that the certified shops do not want out in the public. They want you to need them to calibrate it for you. I just sent my pump to the Bosch diesel expert in North America to be upgraded and rebuilt. I was going to try resealing it myself but saw how much there is to calibrate them correctly. After seeing what options I had, sending it in was the best option. Although it is not the cheapest option in the short term, it is in the long run.
@1320fastback2 жыл бұрын
@@davidparker9676 When I resealed mine years ago I just measured with a dial caliper and recorded everything and put it back exactly as it was. Purrs like a kitten.
@davidparker96762 жыл бұрын
@@1320fastback My pump developed a vacuum leak on the driveshaft bad enough to prevent it from running anymore. The main driveshaft and bushing were worn so badly they had to be replaced. Sending it in for the rebuild was the best option for me. I had the pump upgraded and converted into a turbo pump along with the injectors. When I get a little free time, I'll install the turbo components. I'm looking forward to the extra boost in power the turbo will add.

garbage ,,, common rail was the death of everything a diesel engine was , and all the things that made it great ,,, then came emissions , since they have tightened the emission standards engine life has gone down hill rapidly , in the 2000s a bog standard petrol engine would do 300k easily and a diesel more , now in 2024 a petrol wont usually get to 80k and a diesel is lucky to see 60k , and they call that progress ... I dont really think its moving forwards at all.
