Could you explain the brake bedding procedure better? Are these instructions for the semi-metallic as well as the ceramic? 20-0 ten times. How long is a short cooling period for stopping? 40-20 slow down cycles ten times. How hard to slow down? Normal rate of slowing down? How long is a short cooling period for slowing down? I'm looking forward to installing my first pads and rotors, and I bought Bosch semi-metallic pads.

Hi Jim. I apologize for the delayed response. Here is some information on the bedding procedure. Bedding-in Procedure • During the test drive, the vehicle should be driven at a moderate speed (30-35mph) and brakes should be applied gradually (normally) without coming to a complete stop, to initiate the material transfer process. • This process should be repeated for 8-10 times. • Avoid more than a minute between each brake application to maintain the temperatures needed for the bed in process. • Next, increase speed to 50 MPH and strongly brake down to 5 MPH. You don't want to brake strong enough to activate your ABS or lock up the tires. You should be able to come down to 5 MPH within a few seconds • Repeat this process 4-5 times, then drive an additional 1-2 miles while very lightly braking to cool down the brakes. • When handing the vehicle back to the customer, it is essential to advise them to brake gradually (normally) and to continue the bedding in process correctly.

Do you recommend Bosch Blue or Quiet-cast pads?? I drive a 09 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and put 25-30,000 miles a year on this truck. I also tow a 1300 lb small fishing boat during the summer. Which pads best match OEM??

We recommend QuietCast pads for the front axle, specifically part number BC976. This pad features out latest copper free premium friction material that will provide excellent stopping power while remaining extremely quiet, low dusting, and long life. You can find out more about our friction material at www.boschcopperfree.com/en/. We also offer replacement rear shoes for your vehicle, part number BS871.

The dull appearance referenced is the coating on new rotors. The coating will be removed from the contact area between the pads and rotors. The contact area on the rotor then becomes “shiny” after a few brake applications. The non-contact areas of the rotors will remain with the coating to protect from corrosion.

So I just installed Bosch QuietCast pads and rotors on my 2004 Corolla. Went for a test drive and oh wow, the noisiest grinding noise I've ever heard after a break job. I'm 100% sure I put everything back together correctly but getting a lot of grinding noise. Is that normal for the QuietCast pads and coated rotor? I did my 10 complete stops from 20 mph to 0 and then 10 slow down cycles from 40 mph to 20 mph. Your thoughts? I'll be pulling the tires and checking everything again. Wow, loud grinding....

Hi Bill. Thanks for reaching out. Bosch brake pads come with synthetic brake lubricant for use in disc and drum brake systems. This lubricant should be used on metal-to-metal contact points and sliding surfaces to reduce corrosion, noise, and vibration. An example of usage in the video is at the 5:40 mark.

I AM AS HAPPY AS POSSIBLE for choosing BOSCH Brake Pads. They are impressively durable and offer Superb braking performance! I own a Audi A6 C6 2.0 TDI 170, and after a Performance Software Stage1 Upgrade & FMIC , to 220PS, i decided to get proper brake pad's, preferably from a trustworthy company so i choosed BOSCH. After fitting the Bosch brake pads, very proud with my Stage 1 MOD, i have been driving like a MANIAC for about 5k Kilometers / 3k Miles , and brake pads were still usable , for another at least 3k Moles/5k Kilometers , but decided to change them, and again i choosed BOSCH Brake Pads ! ❤ I i 100% Sure that if i would've drive that car nicely , BOSCH Brake Pads would've last for as long as 45.K Miles or 75 K Kilometers . I am a mechanic and i re-clean & Re-lube the braking pads+sliding rods & caliper every 1 year as i love my car working Perfectly ! Will definitely choose Boche next time as well.

Depending on the application the inner pads and the outer pads are usually the same but there are part numbers where they are different as well as left wheel and right wheel. Most applications all 4 pads are the same. Since we don’t know which part number you are going to install, we suggest as you pull off the used pads off the vehicle you mark them where they came off (inner/outer) and left wh/right wh). If all four coming off your vehicle are the same then the replacement set from Bosch will be the same way as well. If they are different coming off the vehicle then you can match up each used pad to the new pad out of the box. If you give us a part number we can tell you exactly which is the case.

Not if you have a hose connected to it and immediately close the bleeder screw when the piston retracts all the way.
@thedeaffarmer4422
@thedeaffarmer4422 3 жыл бұрын
It could. This is why I never touch the bleeder screw. (plus it could create a fail point if not tightened properly) Instead, I pull the assembly apart, and remove the pads, then use a "C" clamp to compress the brake piston. This pushes fluid back through the entire brake system. Just make sure you have your brake reservoir cap off.

@@thedeaffarmer4422 For cars with ABS this is not recommended as pushing fluid back through the Abs unit might cause it to fail.

He said the idea was to avoid pushing old fluid that might be contaminated with corrosion back into the ABS module. I have never done it this way but I think I will start. Actually a good idea to freshen all the fluid if you're only doing brakes every 2 years or longer anyway.
