like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, kzbin.infoUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

I was lucky. I live in a skycraper in manhatten. When i went to the trash room on my floor. Someone threw out the bose 500 with the plug. Its in mint condition. Have the black one. Its amazing what people throw out in my building. Works great. Dont know why they threw it out. But im not conplaining. Lol

I now use the Kilburn in my man cave and the Stanmore within my home gym.they offer big bass and are very loud.

Bluetooth may be used to connect the SoundLink to the 500. Apple Airplay may also be used to link older Bose speakers to newer ones. I have the older speakers and utilize AirPlay to listen to KZbin music because Bose did not support it on the old system. Right now, airplay is winning. You may also utilize AirPlay while utilizing Bluetooth to connect to a SoundLink speaker. I'm going to acquire the 500 solely because of all the benefits of being in the Bose and Apple ecosystems.

No doubt that Bose make great speakers but ......... I was very disappointed that I could not access my in home NAS (network attached storage) through the Speaker 500 & Soundbar 500. Come on Bose update the firmware on this range to allow for access to our internal LAN's via WiFi or wired connections to enable NAS access. Paid cloud services are great but what about all the personal music libraries that we all have.

I don’t have a portable Bose speaker that I can compare to the 500, but my Harmon Kardon Onyx studio 6 does compare in sound quality but there’s no HUD in it and I think pricing might be in the same range. The HK Studio 6 is completely waterproof if that matters.

Great review! Q: how strong is the bluetooth connection? Doesnt drop the connection when on bluetooth mode? Also does it have a Radio built in? The Bluetooth on this speaker is very good, Bose provides great quality with this speaker. As far as radio stations go, I don’t think there is a built in radio feature 🤷🏾‍♂️, or maybe I only use this speaker for streaming various music apps. I’m not a big radio listener. I hope this helps.

Great review and presentation Nicholas, thank you. Ordered a refurb model of this for £275 today with full warranty straight from Bose, would you consider that a good buy? I just want one speaker for my office desk that does everything. I purchased an Echo Studio, sounds great but has issues switching between line in and Alexa etc...and you lose audio without resetting. I am hoping the Bose will fair better. For example when listening to music via line in, if I ask Alexa for new headlines, when they are finished does it automatically switch back to the music audio via linein? That’s a great question bro and I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice. The only thing I would consider is how much space you have. If you have minimal space then I would go with Bose, but if space isn’t an option then maybe the Sonos. But they are bother great speakers and that is a tough question for me to give you a straight answer. I apologize if I made you decision tougher but I’m a tech junkie and I have both of them 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️😂🤣

@@JustNicholas247 i listened to the bose 500 home dusplay and the jbl extreme 2 and i noticed that the extreme 2 has more basse than the bose 500 home speaker and the reason for that that bose they reduce the bass in their speakers less so that they can make the sound more clear so the prople that like to listen to the clasical or to the music that doesnot have bass they like it however the other people that most their songs are having bass and beats they like jbl So i like bass and bose gives 360 sound and clear but doesnot provide the same punchy beats the jbl extream provide so the bose doesnot worse anything and i want a speaker thatvi can take to my bed room or the leaving room or kitchen not with a wire pluged all the time however in 2 youtube reviews and youtube comments they said that the jbl extream has more punchy bass or beats than the jbl extream 2 specially when the jbl extrem 2 running on its own battery so for that i thing the best one for me is jbl extreme 1

Not much for your money here - think Denon offer better sound and more for your money the new home speakers makes this speaker look awful
