Like you said, they are not the best anymore. BUT if you can get it from the used market, it's the BEST bargain stuff. I got mine used for 100 € and fire this price what it can do is great! The only thing is the batery. But then again, for 100 eur? The best option you can get.

Not terrible set 'phones, but at the price it's a rip off. The replacements earpads are around $40. If one can manage without the ANC (there's white noise emited by inside electronics anyway), easily available M50X BT2 is a decent sounding set (easier to EQ with lower distortions), better battery life, but not as user friendly when comes to control. I'm not in closed cans once I switched to open cans. Soundguys and ASR measured the N700.

With an app on your computer or phone that allows audio recording, then yes. Just about any headset or headphones with a microphone can.

Earcups are cheap and fall apart very quickly. Headband uses cheap synthetic leather that falls apart and flakes quickly. I've only worn them 20-30 times, and they have never left the house. These were $400 headphones! Bose head office don't care. I wish I'd never bought Bose headphones.
