Owning 2 of Gen 1's and 2 of Gen 2's, I can say the EQ app on Gen 2 is a difference maker. The Gen 1 for me, had a veil when standing vertically. It's only when you place it on its back that it sounds better-more bright and open. With the Gen 2 EQ, I can brighten it up when standing vertically while sounding good on its back as well. So this is worth a few extra bucks for me. The Bluetooth 5.3 will also have a longer distance signal and is more battery efficient. The button to link both is a convenience as the other way on Gen 1 is a PITA. The action button can also be linked to phone's AI for inquires, etc. And most importantly, to me, the bluetooth stereo link makes watching movies impercitible with the lip sync. The Gen 1 was too distracting in stereo mode. As single units, the lip sync is some of the best in the business, but the link lag was too much for Gen 1. The Gen 2 seems to have solved this lip sync problem by and large. THEY SHOULD HAVE ADDED AN AUX CABLE PORT though for best movie watching!

I actually reduced bass and treble by -3 for a more balanced sound, treble is really harsh and the bass boomy with default settings.

Here is some difference: old Bose is milder, new one sounds more traditionally, closer to another speakers at the market, with more amount of high frequencies. Old one with his characteristic sound is still recognizable even through the video recording. New guy sounds completely different, not bad, just another.

@@audiophilehousewife difference is small, but big 🤭 More serious, there is completely new chip Snapdragon in the new one, of course it sounds differently

I would say the complete opposite. The new one is much smoother across the frequencies. Treble is no longer harsh and brittle. Fuller mid range.

In some songs it seems that flex 2 has more prominent treble than the flex 1. Is it?

Differences are minimal, bass is slightly cleaner on the new one especially at maximum volume but it’s not very noticeable

Just on the battery life for the flex, I’ve charged mine with a power meter attached to the charger. The flex keeps charging after the light indicates “100%”. After that initial 100% is reached it keeps charging to balance the cells and the rate of charge progressively slows. But it continues to charge for about another hour. Letting this happen seems to add another 90 min to two hours usage (from totally full to flat)

Nothing here made me wanna run out and get the 2nd Gen. They sound the same when listening to this video.

New one has 3-band EQ and slightly cleaner bass at high levels. But nothing that couldn’t have been offered through some firmware update for the old one. Bose just wants to spend you money again for nothing 😤

@@waynedexter yes, reducing bass like -3 and treble you can make it sound less boomy and more natural. Not sure why they force you to buy a new speaker as they could have added this to the old one with some update too

Hello, I have the first generation Flex, do you think it's worth replacing it with the second generation update? Or it's more of the same? If I buy the second generation to connect to the first generation medium and make stereo sound, do you think it will be good or give any noticeable difference? I'm waiting for the answers, thank you I'm blind and I really like to listen to a good show

@@awddminis6129 soundwise they sound nearly the same. At high levels the new one plays slightly cleaner and the EQ is nice to rescue the boomy bass. But I don’t think it’s worth an upgrade although if you want stereo this would definitely be a good choice

@@audiophilehousewife I understand, but if I buy the second generation connect with my first generation to get a stereo sound it will be normal? and the equalizer configuration I touch the 1 generation two 2 generation application connected in stereo I can change the general sound or it will only touch the generation two box, you would know how to tell me?

@@audiophilehousewife damn im thinking to buy one of them as the flex 1 has 35% discount while Flex 2 is full price so i wonder if i should go with flex 1
