Bose SoundTouch SA-5 wireless amp

I completely agree with the difficulty with setup. I'm a network engineer and this was a non-friendly setup. This is primarily because it simply does not work 100% of the time. I found that I had to repeat the setup process a number of times for it to "catch" and work. And the system continuously seems to forget it's settings and needs to be re-setup. I have the amp directly connected to my router (because the wifi kept failing... even though the amp is within 10 feet of the primary mesh router), and every. single. time I activate the system to play music it has to go through a "searching for your speaker" routine. The entire thing is direct wired from source to speaker, yet it always needs to "find" things. There is no way to diasable the wifi or bluetooth so I think that it runs through a wifi checklist every time and gets confused when it finds nothing. I use this to power 4 outdoor speakers from Bose and thought that it would be best for driving their own speakers. I'm now shopping for another solution. Oh... and the company is worthless in terms of support. I've tried numerous contacts and they point me to their FAQ and online knowledgebase... which are boilerplate troubleshooting steps. It's garbage.

Setup problem with Bose basically means it’s unworkable. They have horribly failed

Thanks for the review. Where you able to get sound from an external aource connected to one of the AUX in ports? if so, i'd love to know how you did it.

I don't kow why you find it hard to set this amp up . I have the same amp, with 2 251 bose outdoorspeakers. I think it toke me about 5 min to connect it up with the Bose Soundtouch App....

Hi, It depends on your Wifi network and if you are using wired, It wasnt great for my 1st impression but when it worked its wonderful. I saw some reviews and alot state the same.

@@daleknox1969 It depends what you are expecting from them. For me it seems they get enough power. For me it's more like background music and not to play a concert for 1000 people....

Setting it up waas a pain in the ass and the connector has problems with thicker cables of my rather old speakers

Dude..If I am not wrong..the idea is to have a device which will talk to other bose speakers thru sound touch..so If one has bose speakers installed at different places and wants them all to play different or same sounds..don't u need this.??

ALL so very typical of Bose product line in general. Not sure I would even use their product AT ANY price after the failures I have experienced first hand in the past 25+ years before I wised up and educated myself in Hi-Fi....

Tech in a Sec never EVER found any audiophile say one single positive thing regarding Bose other than that they are genius at marketing. And as a former Roadie for Steely Dan I stand by that as well😑

I’m researching in order to add full sound near my pool and not only am I trying to learn more about amplification, I’m also seriously considering using a pair of Bose’s FreeSpace 51’s.

Break in speakers - Yes, Break in Amp ..... not really, and you wont hear any diffrence at all. ( regardless what is said on paper ) as its very very very minimul.
