Ukraine shouldn't let down their guard. Should the "retreat" by the Russians later bring back enormous reinforcements (the "partial" mobilization is already ongoing and it's estimated to be higher than 300k troops), then it's a nightmarish scenario that might result in irreplaceable losses regardless of the US-led military assistance. On the diplomatic front, it's no shocker that Russia's old playbook of "referendums" to annex the oblasts it occupies is in full display yet again, and while it's unsurprising that almost no country recognized those as legitimate (not even Serbia and Kazakhstan, but Brazil, India and China's positions are still murky though), it'd give Russia the greenlight to formally activate its war economy and grind Ukraine down to the bitter end.

in fact, the USSR in WWII did not have the largest army. The red army was numerically comparable to the Wehrmacht (still - it fought only with it, while the Germans fought on several fronts) the problem was that it suffered such huge losses that in total it had to mobilize several times more people

Fun fact: Now they rapidly moving in Kherson region, because Russian forces weak after moving back and forward (always under attack of Ukrainian Army and Ukrainian Partisans).

Also, no matter what Russian official saying, there is not a single publicly available document which titled as "partial mobilization". The official presidential decree on Kremlin's website saying "mobilization", without any specific numbers. And therefore there is massive panic and exodus of Russian men.

One question I always ask, is why the Russians never did this invasion back in 2014? When Ukraine was at its weakest politically and militarily.

Maybe because Russia was hoping Ukraine's economy would crumble in the long run? Or maybe they were testing the waters to see how other countries would react? The invasion might've happened sooner if it were not for Covid I think.

@@DinaricWolf russians were prepare full scale invasion for 2 years. Everyone knows that their troops close to our border. 2014 was completely different. They took us by surprise. And because of prorussian president in 2010-2014 we haven't had any army at all. So our people started to volunteer as hell like you seen it in February. We searched for everything for our men. From even guns to food and other basic needs. We almost pushed them back to russia but putin started to fill separatist with guns and situation equalised. It's always was our people's war against putin. You can see battle map changes in YT. So, the thing is. There would be no surprise if they was preparing for full scale in 2014. And because of our resistance putin froze front line and started to prepare full scale invasion. That's why we won't agree on anything that isn't our victory. Because putin will start it again.
