Congratulations for your comparison review! I HAVE THE CS3. After seen this video I think CP-1x brings out clarity of the dry signal more than the CS-3

Great comparison, gave me something to listen to as I decide what to buy. Love the sound of both, the CS-3 definitely has that natural sounding compression over the instrument, but the CP-1X covers more ground for what I play. Cheers!!!

I have both pedals; with distortion I use the CP1X and add the CS3 when I switch to lead so all three pedals are on at the same time. The tone is amazing!

I've never thought about stacking compression... wouldn't that squeeze the HELL out of the signal?

CS-3 is squashy and hollow sounding. CP1X brings things out in front like a nice studio compressor.

I had my CS-3 on my board from 1992 to 2016 then I used the CS-2 for a year until I started using the CS-1 which is my favourite, quirky as it is, it's got that chewy elastic analog snap I crave! I don't think I'd use a CP-1X at all!

Kinda hard to judge, especially when the output gains aren't matched, nor are the parameters. On first impression the CS-3 seems 'thinner' and squashier, but again, proper adjustment of both sets of controls would probably yield identical sound...

I play Greek bouzouki and always adding to my board for perfection..... Will this work with Greek bouzouki.... one is a three string (pairs of strings) and the other a four string (pairs of strings). Both have pick ups fitted.???

Nice Comparison. CS3 have a vintage sounding compression. Both are great compression electric guitar pedal, but CP1X works better with acoustic guitar, but I imagine that CS3 will be works better on Funk rhythm electric guitar playing

It was very close. I felt like you didn’t spend long enough on the CS3. The CP1 was more crystal clear but I think it lacked sustain. The notes died quicker. Thats what I could hear.

I like them both but as far as the strings in the demo the the 1X is much beefier/warmer so it's a matter of what sound the player is looking for. Both have their place for sure but if you are looking for more bottom, fatter then 1X is the one.

4:48 The CS-3 beats the CP-1X for metal lead tone. The CS-3 is more organic and natural certainly as a result of being analog. The CP-1X is struggling to smoothly modify the thick tone and vibrato with its digital processors.

It would but the bass version would be better. This uses digital circuitry than analyzes your signal so each version is optimized for the frequency spectrum of guitar or bass. Good luck!

cs-3 settings were not matched as well [got close to the tone later on in the video but the volume should have been at around 3-oclock]. However I agree with a comment below "the cpx-1 sounds like a studio compressor and great for acoustic recording. I like them both but would much rather use a CS-3 for stage and the CPX-1 for recording.

@@ricmel8008 if you're a big-time compressor guy (which I'm not), I would go with the CP1x. But if you just want a compressor to add to your arsenal, save $50 bucks and go with the CS3. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

CS-3 all my life. It has a living texture. CP-1 is darker.

I have a cs3. For years I found it unusable but I’ve figured out how to get good sounds out of it as of late but it’s just never transparent. Not that transparent is always good. But it can suck the life and the high end clarity out of your tone unless you’re very careful. The cp1x doesn’t seem to have that problem. All the demos I have heard it sounds fantastic. At every setting. Sounds like they nailed and I might have to get over the digital mind block I have. Pros Great sounding compression from light and imperceptible to heavy. It never sounds “choked” Less expensive than its quality competitors Gain reduction meter Super low noise floor Sturdy Cons Silver knobs aren’t the best to look at and can be hard to see where the knob is set No XLR input Doesn’t look as cool as other “boutique” pedals. (Yes that does matter)

El nuevo Cp1X colorea mucho la señal original haciendo resaltar los agudos ,,un buen compresor NO debe colorear el TONO original ,,pues su funcion no es eso ,,es comprimir la señal y hacerla uniforme ,,,a diferencia el CS3 no colorea la señal en agudos ,,pero carece de presencia tipico en TODOS los pedales Boss

These comparison videos do not help me what so ever. Never have and never will. I do not hear any difference between the two pedals using computer speakers. Regarding audio, it's best to compare both units in person. That is just my personal opinion.

No sound? What do you mean? Completely dead? If it is, then either try to swap the guitar or the cable or the amp Just borrow your friend's for a moment This pedal is for enhancing your sound not to fix it
