Let's get started with a few different ways to program a basic patch and chose which loops/pedals are active.

This channel is so well done and a life saver for a new ES-8 owner like myself who has also never used a loop switcher to begin with before.

Liking these videos more and more. I was overwhelmed and had no time to do this. Now I have a little time and completely forgot what I had learned. This is very, very valuable to me right now. On the the next video. Thanks again...

Why do you have so little views per video? You're reviews are as good as "That pedal show" and as entertaining as the "The Captain and Chappers ". I've been watching your gear reviews lately and I really enjoy your objective insight(and your sense of humor too xD). Thank you and keep up the good work for all the gear nerds out there!

I agree totally. 'The Captain and Chappers' gives a high overview. 'That Pedal Show' goes far deeper into matching guitars/amps and pedals... and then this channel explains how to set things up and maintain a balanced relationship between pedal-boards, geeks, the opposite-sex and animals.:) I'm so grateful for your input... thank you.

Looks the bizzo for a pedal board this controller and cannot wait till you get around to those Ibanez guitars either. I have been looking at a few of these guitars myself recently, not the expensive ones mind you :))))) but they do some pretty cool guitars over all their price ranges, and I love the fact that they have their own design about them and do not need copy anybody else to which most guitar companies tend to do.

Just picked up a used pristine looking ES-8 for a very reasonable price and came across your tutorial series. As a long time subscriber of your channel I was most excited as I knew you would dig into the details and express the good, bad and the ugly. Watched part one and mid-way thru this part. A couple of comments/questions at this point. In your first vid, you mentioned that if you are using MIDI to make program changes, you could keep that pedal out of loops 1-8, and just use the MIDI jack. This would free up a loop for other pedals of mine exceeding the 8 available. Is that correct? I plan on using MIDI with a Mobius and a Nemesis. I’m assuming you can still include the MIDI pedals not in loops 1-8 in presets, correct? Any downside in setting up this way? Also, in this vid you put your looper in loop 8. I have a TC X2 looper that I planned on putting at end of the chain but outside loops 1-8, as I don’t want to use up a loop and it’s of no use in preset mode. Can’t I just connect it from the guitar out jack and then go from there into my amp - amp effects loops aside? Thanks and looking forward to watching the whole series!!

@ EytschPi42 Hi, enjoy your videos very much. I'm a bit confused on where modulation (Delays, Chorus, etc) pedals goes within switch pedals. In this tutorial you have a delay pedal inline with other pedals into front of an amp? Maybe I'm missing something but aren't modulation pedals suppose to go into an amp's FX loop then back?
@EytschPi42

Hi there!! I’m trying to make noises with the boss es 8 but when I disable the buffers, when there is not a pedal on, it doesn’t sounds and when I plug it to my amp (with or without buffers) the gain lowers A LOT. I use the Friedman JJ Jr. and at 3/4 gain it usually does fcking rock, but with the es8, it sounds like a soft OD 😳. Can anyone help me please?

Indicative lights around the switches would have been great on this, as a means of showing active loops. A good ol dyno label maker would do, presuming the person using it knows what loops are for his songs lol

Hello EytschPi, I have something weird going on with Loop On/Off, I don't know if it is because I updated the firmware of the ES-8. When I press the sequence Edit -> Patch -> Enter I clearly see the Loops on and off. After i write the display structure shows asterisks for the loops that are off, and the numbers of the loops that are on. I am not sure if I accidentally changes some setting, or if it is the result of updating the ES-8 firmware, but its kinda driving me crazy. I mean I can tell what is on and off, its just that this isn't what it used to show. Any thoughts?
@jackglacken9808
@jackglacken9808 5 жыл бұрын
Actually it shows the pedals on the loops structure while in edit, when finished editing, i just see the Patch name and underneath it asterisks and the numbers of the loops that are on. Maybe that is the way it is supposed to be and I have mis-remembered. Probably, and the hardest bug to find, is one that doesn't exist. Okay, my bad

+Holtermarvin As I understand it, all the boss boxes are buffered so it reinforces your signal, unlike the true bypass ones that don't do that.

ok there is one thing I don't understand. let's say I have a boss dd200 delay pedal. one song I play uses 310ms delay. another song I use 580ms of delay. can a looper switcher between delay settings? can it get inside the pedal and change the settings? or would I have to get 2 delay pedals and set them up differently? that's the only thing a don't really understand
@EytschPi42
@EytschPi42 Жыл бұрын
depends on the delay and wether they can chance the delay time with midi or a tap tempo input… if not you’d have to have several delays or use the tap tempo switch on the delay
@talaniel
@talaniel Жыл бұрын
Yeah, DD-200 can have 127 presets which can be selected via MIDI. That means you connect DD-200 and ES-8 via a MIDI cable and then program a patch in ES-8 to send Program Change (PC) to select a preset of DD-200.

VG
@talaniel
@talaniel Жыл бұрын
I think the numbering is related more to the patches than the pedal order, so I think it is ok it goes from left. Regarding ES-5, I've googled the backside of it and it really seems it is mono only.

I don't believe there is anything as powerful as the Boss ES-8 for the $$$ ... MUSICOM LAB EFX MK-V looks almost identical though. RJM Mastermind PBC & G-LAB GSC-4 look quite impressive too. I do like the workflow of The Gig Rig G2 and One Control Crocodile Tail OC-10 loop switchers. Other cool products imo would be the Source Audio Soleman and Decibel 11 Pedal Palette
