Tian Jay -Thank you for this great video. Had my GT-8 since 2005 & just now started pushing the unit. Yours is the first top to bottom vid I've seen & I'm already getting 10X the output, in versatility, ever.

Don't feel bad. I have had mine since around 2008. I am just now really understanding how to use the damn thing and Tian's video is a big help! I like distorted tones and I had a tough time getting a good sound. Years later, I finally understand what each section does. I just have not been good adapting and had given up on this unit until now.

At 10:00 you talking about running the GT in stereo mode, and connected to a mono sound system (amp). Causes phase problems. Well I discover lately that I have that problem. (I haven't used the preamp A/B feature you are demonstrating here, but I use DLY and Chorus in stereo mode). When I try to run my recorded stereo tracks as mono. To switch phase on right or left channel solve that problem. It must be possible to play the recorded guitar on a mono eqpment, without having a serious volum drop, and strange sound. But, when I change the phase on one of the channels, it effect the stereo sound as well. I can't decide yet if it becomes better or worse sound. Just different. Confusing.... I thought the problem was one of my two amps. Because I plug the cable from GT right output, to the return (eff loop) of amp 01. And left outp. from GT to amp 02, who don't have a effect loop. so I plug it in the input (preamp). I was thinking that the power driver tube in amp 02 also switching the phase. And, maybe it does. But, than on the amp 01 it will also do so, because the return input is situated above (in front of) the power driver tube, right? I was planning to change phase (exchange + and - on the speaker) in one of my speaker cabinets, but I don't know anymore. But, anyway, now I understand that the problem is the GT, in stereo mode....

Yeah, there's many ways that it could be configured and i've run in to similar issues that have different solutions with different amps so it's not always a simple "one size fits all" solution... just have to try different settings. in your case i would have thought stereo mode would be fine and shouldn't cause any phase issues. You could check it by recording the signals to a DAW and checking the wave to see if they're in phase.

@@tianjay Thanks for answer. I have recorded some tracks. And all of them has this problem. I can visually see the waves working exaktly opposite. As long as they play back with hard panning its fine. but for playback in mono, or do the mono mixing, I have to turn the phase on one of my channels. Yesterday, I connect the GT directly to my interface, and everything was ok. So my problem must be my amps. Lately, I learn that every gain stages in a tube amp, converts the phase. F.eks. in my Carvin MTS I have four gain stages (two tubes) in the drive channel. and two in the clean channel. So the signal sent from the SEND (eff. loop) is still in phase. Back from the GT, into RETURN on my Carvin, the sign. passes another stage, and then the phase inverter, who split the sign. and turn the phase on one of the signal. who goes further to the power valves And I am not shure what the outp. transformer does. If the outp. sign is in or out of phase. I guess all modern amps deliver in phase from speaker output. The other half of my stereo "setting" is a self build singel ended, small 5 W amp. Who have one preamptube (two gainstages) and one poweramp tube. So I guess that the pwertube also convert the phase. And if the o.p. trensformer does not convert. The signal out is out of phase. And I guess that is my problem. Anyway, I just exhange the polarity on the speaker for my home maid amp. So the GT is not the "guilty" one in this case, as I though in the beginning.

Awesome tutorial... thanks for all these gt-8 tutorial. How do we set the pedal to volume, switching off wah wah?
@tianjay6 жыл бұрын
Hey Khriela, thanks for the kind words! You can set this in the settings menu.. it needs to be set to Auto. Also, check out my FX Assignment overview video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/moTKgHWubt6Eps0 Jump to about 3 minutes in, it may also help you with a few settings such as default volume level etc.. Cheers!

I still use mine for Electric and it sounds great, very versatile with good cleans going into a tube amp. However does anyone have any tips for how to use it with a piezo equipped acoustic guitar so there isn’t fizz on the decay when running straight to the board?

Would be nice if somebody uploaded a video, demonstrating how to get a good metal sound. The technicals are too much.

This video looks interesting and tried to watch but just could not focus away from the distracting backing drums and gave up. A common youtube error. Video does not need backing music!!

I’m sorry you found it distracting.. this clip is an excerpt of a DVD that I made and sold years ago, in that time I have sold over 10,000 copies and you are literally only the second or third person that has commented negatively. If I could go back 10 years I’d probably do a bunch of things differently but it is what it is, cheers T

GT-100 or GT-8?

Not sure I understand the question... the video (as per the title) refers to the GT8 but the same concepts can be applied to any MultiFX
