ANYONE BUYING THIS: The Boss FS-7 is in a much better option than for the katana 50mk2 i.m.o. It’s about ten dollars cheaper, has a 9v power adapter option, and does everything the FS-6 needs to do for this setup. For some reason nobody is mentioning this newer switch but it could just be timing of the videos.

This is a really great switch. I used it for some blues last night, distortion and clean alternated. Just takes some getting used to if you haven't ever foot controlled much before, but I'm glad I bought it.

I recently bought the kitana 50 and I absolutely love it however.... it is not colorblind friendly when switching the modes from red,green,yellow it’s impossible. Hopefully you can pass on a message to maybe use numbers or change the lights colors to something like street lights. The lights on traffic signals are very different but the kitana 50 for me are almost identical. Or maybe use numbers with backlights to differentiate the modes.

There is some confusion whether the FS-6 will work with the Katana 50. This video proves that it can be used. The manual is confusing because in one section it shows how to hook up the FS-6 and the channel and bank switching and yet at the end of the manual it shows options for the Katana 50 as: Footswitch: BOSS FS-5L , Expression pedal: Roland EV-5, BOSS FV-500L, BOSS FV-500H. As the video shows the FS-6 allows you to switch between CH1 and CH2 and then switch from Bank 1 to Bank 2 within each of the 2 channels giving you two more channels. You can use either a TRS (stereo) cable or a TRS to 2 TS mono jacks which connect to the mono jacks on the back of the FS-6. I believe that the FS-7 pedal will also work which gives you AC power but limits you to latching/unlatching common to both A and B. The FS-6 allows you to independently switch latching/unlatching on either A or B. But I believe you could get an AC adapter plug to run to the 9 volt connector in the FS-6. You would just leave the battery cover off or modify so that the cable runs through with the door closed. Regardless the footswitch must be a latching footswitch.

This footswitch is so confusing. All I want is a nice clean chorus, a crunch, a distorted rhythm and a lead. But I can’t seem to get it right at all. If I want to go from my lead back to clean I seem to have to tap dance to do so, maybe I’m missing something???

I think boss is turning away customers for the Katana 50. A key element is the footswitch, especially for gigging. The battery operated crappy footswitch option basically says to customers, either spend more money for the 100 or go elsewhere. I indeed went elsewhere and grabbed the Monoprice Stage Right 15w. Classic tube tone and takes pedals great.

so this footswitch works only for switching between banks and channels? i mean, if i have everything i need (fx, booster, delays and reverb) in one channel i should be able to change the effects in THAT channel, not switching every channel. I think Boss should have made the 50 mk2 compatible with the GA-FC footswitch, just my opinion. (don't mind my english pls hahahaha)

Works great for the first steps pressing the B button to swithch between CH1 and CH3 but Pressing the A button on the FS-6 following along with this video, does not switch to bank 3 or 4. I have the setiings set in tone studio for channels 3 and 4 but NADDA. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,! Can spmeone please help? I scoured other you tube videos but not one shows how it wiill show evidence of the swithching of Banks 3 and 4 in Tone Studion using the FS-6.

I have returned my 50 and got the 100W instead; mainly because 50W doesn't have a 'return' and 'send' jacks at the back as opposed to the 100. I needed them cuz if you use a loop pedal in 50 in the front and switch between channels, the loop also follows the effect in the current channel. But if I connect the pedal via those jacks at the back, I can retain the original first effect in the loop even if I switch channels later. And now that I have a 100, I have gone for boss GA-FC footswitch (six switches), and I'm very glad that I made that decision. So much flexibility.

Mikal bien-aime I had to upgrade the firmware on my katana 50 to allow the third and fourth. By default mine only supported the 2. I bought mine new recently in Dec 2019. After upgrading firmware per the boss documentation on their website, you can switch to the 3rd and 4th by holding the PANEL button. The CH1 light should then be blinking, indicating it's on CH3. Pressing CH2 while blinking indicates CH4. Hold PANEL button again to get to CH1/2

I recently bought one with the foot switch. The only thing I dislike, is that you can't just toggle effects on or off. Basically, I copied my clean and distorted channels to the second bank and loaded the effects on there. Then I can toggle between clean and distortion and with the other switch hold my foot on the switch to use the effects and release it to deactivate the effect. Am I doing it right? Also, is there no way to toggle effects with the foot switch while just playing through the panel? This would be handy for when I'm playing acoustic, but don't want to mess with my regular channel settings. Would appreciate some help. Can't get answers anywhere...

Austin, you do a great job with these videos, but I think that you could improve them by not blocking the view of the guitar body by the amp. While you are demonstrating a particular sound, I would like to see which pick up you are using, your pick attack or technique, etc. I've had my Katana 50 for several months now, and am really enjoying it--especially after struggling with a Fender Mustang for several years.

So basically, your two channels are actually 4. Your channel 1 has 2 banks called A and B. Using the "B" on the footswitch let's you choose the channel. Using the "A" on the footswitch switches between bank A and B on the selected channel. Is that correct?

Yes. It's smaller and does the same thing, and generally is the same price. No reason to buy an FS-6 over an FS-7.

You have to update your amp to the latest version. Fairly easy update instructions on the Boss website. Once it is updated you can switch between Bank A and B by pressing and holding the panel button until the lights flash. 😉

Dude! Thanks for trying but you lost me without even explaining why or what you were talking about. You go from the first button going from channel 1 to channel 2 to saying the next one goes into channel "B." What happened to how to access channels #3 and #4?

So pretty much the two channel buttons on the amp have two banks each, making four in total. Pressing the B button will switch between the two 'buttoned' channels, and pressing the A button will switch between the two banks within the channel.

Hey there, I have just bought the Katana 50 and the FS-6 Switch. However, while the B pedal switches correctly between the two effects, the pedal A doesn't seem to work (it doesn't switch between banks). Do you have any idea why? The light turns red correctly but nothing happens. Might it have to do with the cable I have used? Thanks a lot for your help!!

Why does the fs6 works only with batteries? A 9v input should be easy to add. The fs6 turns off only removing the jack, with batteries the lack of an off button is a stupid move. Why must I remove my jack from my pedal every use??? It’s a shame, I love the katana.

Banks are things that you change pressing panel button. At the start you got bank A choose and you got your Channel 1 and Channel 2 but if you will Press and hold panel button then you get Bank B. In Bank B you got Channel 3 and Channel 4. You can change between Channel 3 and 4 Just using buttons "Channel 1", "Channel 2".

The fs6 is not assignable to controlling effects in the katana 50. The katana 100's do this with a GAFC. Check out the other tutorials on this channel for more info on KTN100 and GAFC.

This video is 'inaccurate/ misleading'...At the 2:30 point in the video where he talks about the "A" button on the pedal allowing you to switch between Bank 1 & Bank 2... There is no Bank 1 & 2 in the Katana 50 MKl. At least not that I can find???...
